photos

i've learned a new lesson today. lie to people when they ask
why you're taking pictures. cause if you tell em you have a
website, they tend to get the wrong impression, and try to
beat you up.. :\

time to print up a fake press pass.

The last four pictures were stunning (especially scrambler).
the combination of those cheap lights and atmosphere of the
place with the night backround and stillnes of take doesn't
make you feel joyfull at all.

Excellent stuff.

RE: The excuse, I'd tell them you're doing a college product
on 'insert complimentary category, relevant to what you're
photographing, here'. IE If you're taking photographs of
tastelessy modified cars, tell them it's for a project on
hotrods. If you're taking pictures of a glutton eating, say
it's a project on 'great food'.

i really dont see the need for b/w photography here, and
compositions like
http://chaosmachine.net/photos/2005-08-24/zipper.jpg make me
wonder what you were trying to achieve. Also, almost
everything is underexposed.

How are you liking that 20d?

i didn't see the need for color. if the composition makes
you wonder, i think that's a good thing.. at least it didn't
come across as obvious and unmentionable. the 20d is great,
but has destroyed my budget.

you didn't see the need for color? but you saw the need for
b/w...
the world IS colored not b/w...

i like those pics, but i constantly notice one thing,
everybody make b/w photos and when i mean everybody, it
really is everybody...

main reason imo: b/w tend to make everything looks like art

tell me, why do you felt the need to make them b/w? probably
because you like it better that way, but then, why do you
prefer b/w?

i dont usually have a problem with b/w photography as long
as it fits the subject/atmosphere.

imo, a fair is all about lights and colours, unless it is an
abandoned one, like a ghost town (coney island, NY for
example).

I remember some of chaosmachine's older b/w photos which i
liked very much (i clearly remember the parked firetruck).

I really like b/w photographs and I think chaos uses the
style very well. We see in colour and by removing the
colour peoples natural perception of outlines and shapes is
taken away. This can lead to things that would have been
disguarded as irrelavant by the brain becoming a more focal
point of the composition altring the whole dynamic
perception of the scene.

b/w can look really quality

don't get all arsey about it. it's about making an appealing
image and sometimes b/w helps with that

for me, using black and white is a lot like cropping an
image. i'm trying to increase the potency of the image by
removing the parts that don't contribute positively to my
idea.

for example, bandaloni's pinkish-orange made him look like
an escaped prisoner.. and while that might be a funny
thought, shooting him in black and white allowed me to
capture exactly what i wanted people to see, nothing less,
nothing more.
