Snares is not the only guy doing this kind of music. why
the spotlight?

i probably just don't get it...again.

because he releases an unearthly amount of records, would be
my guess. it's hard to miss (I still succeed pretty well at
missing most of it though, luckily).

also people like icons for a genre.

it's because he sticks out in the otherwise overcrowded
market of breakcore. he does a good job at breakcore and
doesn't make it sound like badly produced drum&bass.

put in the effort he puts into 3 albums into 1 each year, he
would be among the top 3 idm/electronic artists

what would you consider filler from hccbu or chocolate?

nah I just think that in each album that there is only 2 or
maybe 3 songs that are "amazing" the rest range from half
decent to average to boring.

I've just got higher standards, and I don't think that his
albums are made up of "filler" tracks but compared to his
REALLY awesome tracks, most of what he does sounds pretty
average,

indeed.

i heard somewhere that mr funk tracks are only released one
or two years after being produced.
thatd mean that meathole was produced in 2003 and that he
got samples from kill bill in 2002

I don't understand people who think his music is shit -- his
music is quite often mindblowing in intensity and intricacy
- I think he is so well-known because he doesn't limit
himself to drill, just like aphex is so famous because he,
too, doesn't limit himself.

I don't think Snaresy is trying to make nerds wise 8 )

It's just well done Music that goes from silly to intense
with a bit of nonsense thrown in.

meathole, though a more traditional snares, is actually very
very good indeed. it's like he's taken his thang and
polished it. more depth and character to the sounds and
etc.

i think his some of his albums are great and i listen to
them as much or more than my aphex albums.

it's interesting how controversial he is - a lot of people
here either love him or hate him... i guess that's really a
good reflection on an artist.

"either love him or hate him"

there's a very specific reason for that - all his songs
sounds exactly the same therefore if you love one you love
them all and if you hate one you hate them all :D

breakcore kind of reminds me of how hardcore punk wound up -
you'd have the innovators like bad brains and minor threat
followed by everyone and their mother playing the exact same
riffs at stupidly fast speeds shouting the same shit about
hating reagan and fighting... most of anything winds up
being generic at best.

Rossz and Chocolate Wheelchair are masterpieces in
completely different ways.

And HCCBU is probably the one album I own that I can say I
hear new bits in EVERY time I listen to it. There's so much
sound in there that moves just a little faster than the
human brain can pick up that it requires hundreds of listens
but it has enough melody and composition to be pleasing on a
superficial level too.

Personally I think you guys are just jealous if you want my
honest opinion. I mean fair enough if it isn't your cup of
tea, but if you don't like the music you must at least admit
that it's unbelievably well produced and programmed.

He's pretty good but he's a bit ''overexposed'', as it were.
I find it hard to get psyched for his albums. He does have a
lot of interesting sounds but there's only so much of said
sounds I can take. As far as breakcore goes, he's pretty
much as good as it gets, I'd say his talent and workrate
earn him that spotlight. I like Xanopticon better though.

i see the ":D" but his songs do sound different. have you

very diverse.

Mr Funk is clearly and scientifically proven to be made of
marmite
because you love him or hate him
and like marmite i like to eat the yeasty lil fucker

i love his crazy hemiola's 7/8 counterpoint and basic FUCK
OFF sound

i dont see why people slate his releases as sounding the
same because he uses his bass drum sample alot (yes he does
its obvious) but the music is always great

moonglow is very imaginative
and connected#

basically if all idm artist's were to be exploded due to
anti terrorism measures and only one could not be blown up
i would choose mr funk
id tell u why but i will get lynched for it

i'm more indifferent than loving or hating. the only full
length i've heard is "songs about my cats." his tracks just
often seem like frantic noodling, busy and noisy but
unmemorable.

slight diference at most?

please listen to infolepsy and then to witboas

or listen to winnipeg and then to rossz

or better, listen to making orange things and then listen to
chocolate

or try with printf and then with moonglow

man, he IS diverse

but not only that. he is top quality music wise, great
beats, great melodies (songs about my cats) great
production, very jazzy and funky (higgins, 2370948,
badmington, moonglow...), also funny (chocolate) and above
all, he is fucking mindblowing live (as jiverdicker said)

just be happy to experience epidermis live... thats
incredible

and about being overexposed (lots of releases) just look at
aphex in the years 91-96, cos he released like one album one
mini album and 3 eps each year
