You must only know intelligent people in the 'real
world'

Why, do intelligent people have a parrticularr fondness orr
apprreciation forr electrronic music?

not as a rule, but along with intellect usually comes a
certain amount of open-mindedness. I've found that,
generally, the more intelligent the person, the more
favorably they respond to electronic music.

Now it's your turn to say "OH RREALY? ALL SMARRT PEOPLE LIKE
IDM THEN EH???"

go ahead, the crowd is waiting.

I hate how the music I loved has been hijacked by the IDM
genre whores. You elitist spazmos in this thread just prove
me right.

Any highly derivative electronic music produced after 1998
where the influences can be directly attributable to one
single source.

i can understand braindance, the headphones implication, at
least it implies quality music, not just 'intelligent'
music.

um, yes? I'm not exactly sure what you are asking.

basically I don't care if anyone hates idm, to each his own.
I just think it's a stupid name.

''IDM'' is a laugh out loud funny acronym, but I don't mind
it, at least musicers tend to know what you mean when you
mention it. I just call it ''electronic music'', pretty much
everybody I regularly talk to knows that I don't mean Darude
or Fatboy Slim anyway.

when i say electronic music, they usually say techno, at
that point i say "yeah" because i could give a fart.

... I hate IDM.

for me... i've been listening to electronic music since i
was about 9 when i first heard kraftwerk in the early 80s...
i think from that moment, i've been conditioned to accept
mainstream pop music as crap... so for me... i never tried
to dislike something... it has already happened before those
tracks were even conceived (if that makes any sense)... i
have some people that call me closes minded... but in
reality... they are close minded since i listen to so many
other types of music... and they listen to what's popular
and what not... so i correct them quicklike on that
subject...

on the subject of autechre... i have a co worker who is
always coming into my cubicle because she thinks the music i
listen to is fresh and new... i made her a list of
electronic artists and what not... but i'm breaking her in
slowly... she's an indie girl so i hit her with the
obvious... but then she saw my "untilted" cd sitting on my
desk and she had to ask what it was... i told her "you're
not ready for this!"

uh, it wasn't a comeback. In order for it to be a comeback,
I would have to be IDM, since it is that which you insulted.
I am not IDM. I am simply a man with an opinion.
