I read a review that said its experimental and unlike any of
his other stuff. It also said it was melodic drill, so I
don't know what to think.

It's well-produced but not very exciting. I probably
wouldn't describe it as "melodic". I don't know.. I like
it, but I can see why it's one of the least talked about
µ-Ziq releases.

you worthless bunch of fucking turds, it would be
disrespectful of a coat hanger if I used it to stab you
stagnant floating imbeciles into smaller pieces before a
relentless campaign of flushing

Absolutely awful :(

Tedious & boring from the early days of drill. Mike want's
to be like Vibert, Pusha and Mr James, but never fully gets
down to (the) business.

grave.

wrong

...oh and I think these releases mark the beginning of my
dislike for Mike. I wish I never bought them.

Oh, I'm sure. Come to think of it, I actually get a bit
irritated thinking about how bad they are...

I'm not saying you should avoid them. By all means, d/l and
give em a try. But don't come and say I didn't warn you...

got it cheap at Amoeba bout a month ago. never been Mikes
biggest fan but i really really just like this record
through and through. just a nice kick back collection to
play while you work or something.

"M5 Saabtone" is classic melodic IDMer stuff.
"1 Hip 007*" is a really dope retake on "Phi* 1700 [u/v]".

put it on.

strange... I just read vlari´s posts in this thread for the
firs time

as much as I admire him and respect his great music taste, I
disagree completely here

1- I really enjoy this release and recomend it to all of
you
its nice.

2- by no means did this mean a downward direction in mikes
career as this is previous to lunatic harness (or from the
same year at least), royal astronomy and bilious paths, all
of them great releases

haha, it's nice to hear you respect my taste, but I guess we
have a difference of opinion regarding Mike P post In Pine
Effect - i don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way,
although I like most of the Brace Yourself Remix 12".

Generally, I think µ-ziq was best when he was signed to
Rephlex

"Generally, I think µ-ziq was best when he was signed to

in that we agree

I still stand by my age-old statement that the Auteurs vs
µ-ziq and In Pine Effect are his best. Even though In Pine
Effect seems to be the µ answer to I Care Because You Do it
doesn't suffer from it and I still love it to bits.
I really really wanted Urmer Bile Trax to be darkly
fantastic and slickly sweet... the sort of record you'd be
proud to own... but it just isn't. I don't like to slag of
records, and really it's not terrible, but it is just
disappointing and I've only played it a handful of times.
Still, it has it's moments.

I don't really like it a lot but its not bad. It really
suffers from sounding so unstructured (track structure being
one of his strongest points normally I think) and the breaks
and beats are suprisingly unimaginative and hollow.

I bought the CD version (nearly 70 minutes in a
slim-case...), rather cheap in a (so called) junk shop
section of my favourite music store. I was very suprised,
because I didn't remeber anyone mentioning this earlier here
on xlt. Now I know why. Definitely weaker than his "classic"
releases, although some parts of (mostly) "1 Hip 007*" catch
up with pieces from "Lunatic...". Quite clever at times, but
rather an exercise; and without those super-lush lead
melodies...
