You mistake my illustration of the consequences of his actions with a personal attack of his beliefs. I do not think that the pope is a fan of ass fucking and likes catholics in Africa to die of aids or recieve no aid from catholics in America. To return to the purpose of this thread, sometimes reality has to be represented by the grotesque in order for it to be noticed. If that makes me a "fucking bastard" than so be it, but to infer that the pope is somehow "off limits" to the same kind of ridicule that Bush or Blair get on this board on a daily basis is ridiculous. |

I never said he was off limits, but it is wrong to misrepresent reality in order to get it noticed. because that is basically what sensationalist media does. It is flat out wrong to falsify information in order to attain more attention from people, that is what the US and British government did as a means to justify the attack on Iraq. The examples of child abuse cases should be appauling enough for people to sit up and take notice without inferring that the Pope is condoning the behaviour in some way. You have on a number of occassions challenged me to give examples of the humanitarian work he has undertaken. Do you really need me to point these out? He has managed to bring people together, he has embraced all faiths like no other and within religious circles he is respected by the top members of all faiths, whether christian, jewish, muslim or whatever. I just think he was a good man who deserves a little more respect than was being shown. Bush however is a bad man (but I won't get into that one :P) |
