Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

The Hand That Feeds:
i actually like this one... even though it's cheesy.

The Line Beings To Blur:
some nice moments. not outstanding though.

Getting Smaller:
oh dear... -_- i actually burst out laughing when i heard
Trent singing "flop flop flop flop flop" and "my world is
getting smaller everyday that's okay"... he really is
13 in his head.

yes, in "Getting Smaller" at 0:30.

"flop flop flop flop flop."

best NIN line ever.

i bet it will be good. they'll play old songs maybe. i bet
their new stuff will sound way better live.

could be fun, I suppose.

although when I watch the live dvd I do wonder at which
point he thought it would be a good idea to paint his fat
face white.

performance art.

my point was more that he has a chubby, hamster-like face.

and then he paints it white.

doesn't work in your favour, Trent.

did you know that nin's first single "down in it" is based
on the rhythm section of skinny puppy's "dig it"?

I did not know that. I don't know any Skinny Puppy though,
so the reference is kind of lost on me.

did you know that he ripped the beat in "closer" from
"nightclubbing" by Iggy Pop?

haha - he didn't think of that wonderful simple beat?

skinny puppy are the real pioneers - the industrial
"crossover" artists whose style was highly influential to
many artists, including reznor. but nin has had success as
big commercial rock stars and sp never did.

ok, like the hypocrite that i am, i might be seeing Trap
Rinser live

my girlfriend is gonna try and get us tickets for the
Birmingham gig.....

anyone else going?

if anything, i think it'd be a good venue for some NIN
listeners here at xlt to actually meet up?

now that you say it, yes... but even so, "flip flop flip
flop flip" isn't much better than "flop flop flop flop
flop".

and i don't think i'll buy it either.

It truly doesn't sound very good so far.

Oh well, at least he's a totally conceited asshole so I
won't feel like I'm missing out on much when I start
disliking him.

well, i was a rather huge nin fan, but i think he's a bit of
an egomaniac.

...well, he may've always been an egomaniac, but it's
becomming ever more obvious to me now, which is more than a
little off putting to me.

getting smaller is an embarassing track but its hardly
representative of the whole album (hopefully!)

I still think The Line That Blurs is a great track, if most
of the tracks are at least this good the album should be ok.

offline welt on 2005-03-02 13:35 [#01519062]
Points: 2036 Status: Lurker | Followup to pantalaimon: #01519025

yeah, the line begins to blur has something of that old
industrial vibe while getting smaller is really emo. but
still. all of the tracks are rather conventional 3.5 minutes
rock songs with rather embarrasing lyrics. i find it crazy
that the person who made THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL and THE FRAGILE
now puts out onedimensional shit like the three known with
teeth songs. he's probably gone crazy.

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2005-03-02 13:42 [#01519071]

my theory is that they're probably rough mixes that could
have been stolen at any point during the production of the
tracks and leaked recently.

we don't know what the record will sound like for sure until
it comes out. so hold off on your judgements until you can
hear what trent reznor wants to present to you in the way he
thinks is best.

offline epohs from )C: on 2005-03-02 13:45 [#01519076]

i want him to stop doing albums and focus on creating
soundscapes for games and movies and stuff.

he should do that, because that's what i think is best.

lol, someone has managed to fill SlSk with alot of fake's
and they all seem to be computer generated,

eg, "joey126" "Craig442" "Samantha423" blah blah blah,

anybody know better?

Sounds like the RIAA to me. I've heard about something like
this going on about a few other more mainstream releases on
SLSK lately.

samples for the whole album

I think these are short samples looped to sound longer than
they really are (unless this album is painfully repetitive).

offline uzim on 2005-03-06 14:29 [#01523651]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

yes, they have taken the strong moments off the tracks and
looped them indeed... it's pretty obvious, especially in
"the line begins to blur".

actually these samples sound better than the leaked tracks -
except for the repetitive aspect of course. but they're
probably less representative as well. i don't know what to
think. : /

hehe, i'm sure thats not the way Trent wanted them to be
heard, a few seconds looped :)

anyway, parts sound pretty good... i'm kind of looking
forward to the album, I can't possibly be dissapointed
because expectations aren't too high.
