SAW II sped up

has anyone bothered listening to saw 2 an octave higher?
I've been listening to the first 5 rdj album tracks, most of
come 2 daddy and the first windowlicker track an octave
lower a lot lately. The thing about these tracks is
that they don't rely on speed to make them beautiful.
They're amazing regardless of the speed unlike, say,
squarepusher. I highly recommend listening to them like this
to everyone. Anyway, I'm now wondering if saw 2 will sound
flimish or whatever if sped up. I havn't tried it and kind
of doubt it.. but that'd be awesome if there was an entire
collection of flim etc style tracks "hidden" until played an
octave up.

oh dude I'm going to test flim like that right now.

giginger thinks xmd5a is great fast, but that's retarded.

oh PS you must start liking xmd5a soon, .

yeah the way he selected the pitches and volumes of the
principal line in flim is just perfect. I heard a similar
track about one week after you introduced me to it, and the
arpeggios kept selecting the wrong fucking chord tones.

I realllllllllly like disc 2, but damn rhubarb, rhubarb.
it's a little boring, but soo nice if relaxed enough for it.

By the way I've tried a few times to mimick his "flim" etc.
style as best I can, mostly by composing slow beats/melody
then later speeding it up, and finally concluded that it
simply can't be done with modplug tracker (and probably not
by me.) Oh man, beaucifulus bouncing ball (spelling) sounds
sooooo wicked in slow.... the melody is like "bum.... ba da
da ba BUM... BUM".. it's totally ill.
In funny little man, the "high hat" or whatever in the
linear drum beat turns out to be quite a cool noise an
octave lower. Oh, in flim the third melody that comes in is
based on 5 instead of 4 like the previous 2. Also a subtle
characteristic in the "bass drum" is that it mutates
occassionally from a "drumish cymbol" sound to a "balloonish
bounce" sound. Also I think a lot of his percussion takes
pitch into account. The little cymbolish parts in flim play
in different pitches as well as the bass drum.
Also flim's drums are based on a beat like this. It's hard
to pick it out when played fast I guess but this beat is
what seems to be continuously mutated.
0-x0--x-
0 is bass drum and x is high hat.
This same beat is used track 4 on the rdj album I think..
either that or track 1. I can't think because I have saw 2
playing.

I fucking love him.

You know, I think during spring break, while I have no
computer or books to read, I'll have some paper and figure
out my synthesizer plan. I will make it good, send a demo
to rephlex, and totally get to hang out with him. yes.

bucephalus bouncing ball sounds sooooo wicked in
slow

YES YES YES
EXACTLY!!

tho i'd say when it comes to playing tracks slowed down
NOTHING beats Autechre's Cap.iv - it sounds like the most
beautiful ambient track ever

I have to try that now. First I have to figure which track
of which album it is...

I just listened to saw 2 again after a couple years of not
hearing it probably and it doesn't really have the
characteristics of slowed down flim etc. tracks so probably
wouldn't really sound like them when sped up. (all saw 2 is
slow normally so I figured it might work when sped up).

I know I have it since I have all their albums.. I just
don't memorize titles. It will be easier for me to download
it off soulseek than rip it myself though probably.

i absolutely love this little winamp plugin for speeding up
and slowing down music. it will literally keep me
entertained for hours on end. it has tempo , pitch , and
fucking speed controls ! plus they have a very wide range of
control. PLUS you can fucking run any of them in combination
! i forget what i had going on the other day , but it was
fucking sick. i recorded a couple wayne jarrett tracks in
the combo i had , i think i had one all the way fast , one
all the way slow , and one sort of slow. bare insanity ! i
might post a clip of that jarrett speed fux.

your welcome ! its awesome !

oh yeah , i forgot to mention that the version i would
reccomend downloading is v 1.32

i say this because its the one i have , and i can verify it
works great with no cpu. and the gui is plain and clean
looking , not like that shite gaudy screenshot they have of
the current version.

For the record I listened to cap iv an octave lower (I don't
use the "lower pitch keep speed" or "lower speed keep pitch"
tricks because with audacity at least it's imperfect). It
was ok but not as good as come 2 daddy tracks in my
opinion.

Also audacity is a good free program that lowers/raises
pitch/speed/tempo and also has a noise removal feature which
works pretty great for the most part except when it leaves
weirdified w gfoij ab bla bla bl aoe

changing the pitch tho...

"Cock-Ver 10" on 33 rpm is a classic !! That tweaked acid
bass becomes a roaring agressive monster and beats become
heavy like ....like really heavy stuff....like elephants or
...airplanes...

Ive put alot of aphex in tracktor. Havent really noticed
anything remarkable by messing with the pitches or speeds.
Though, Windowlicker is sort of fun to mess around with.

Lol, the Little Lord Faulteroy mix of CTD just sounds so
fucking twisted sped up (to +35% in that Winamp plug). So
does Bucephalus. I think 45 to 33 is about -25% BTW.
CTD Mummy Mix sounds very precise at -32%
The IZ-US girl sounds like a man at -32. The rest sounds
like Massive Attack.
XMD5A sounds amazing at around +20%. The piano sounds more
real like this aswell.
Z Twig should have an IDM remix done at +26%

My friend who is downloading it now said that for some
reason, your browser will probably save it as an mpeg,
instead of .mp3. Try changing the file extension, otherwise,

I'll upload to YSI.
