i do not see the point of asking this questions, 'coz simply
- we gonna hear it in the next 15-30 days. so let's just
wait with fingers up our asses to survive this slowly anal
attack. let's just wait. and DON'T TALK ABOUT THIS RECORD
anymore, because we'll create too much expectations and I
can imagine how disappointed some of us will be. Only
because we created too much noise about it. Let the music be
music. Aphex is no Beyonce, right?

i find it retarded so many people are jumping on the afx
bashing bandwagon, just watch analord will be incredible -
why the fuck would he release a turd on audiophile vinyl and
put it in a binder? obviously he likes to take the piss ,
but that is just going too far , further analogue+aphex
twin=consistantly brilliant , i for one cannot wait to hear
a return to old school aphex styles , but with a truckload
of extra gear propelling things forward , he probably has so
much hardware that he can effectively do anything reaktor
can but on analogue shit. also why would grant and
soundmurderer big it up if it was shit? fair enough it is
pricey , that is an understandable complaint , but yr just
deluding yrself if you reckon it will suck. anyway we just
have to wait and see now...

when was the last time something actually by "aphex twin"
dissapointed??

one rephlex question i suppose;

does RDJ ever intend to play out some of these tracks live
and if so does that mean we will finally see true live aphex
rave ups again? ie will all the drumachines and synths come
out again?

Yes, I am not sure how good Analord 10 will be.. not a big
fan of the nu acid style thing that RDJ has done (a la 2
remixes).. I have my doubts. But from what I can tell the
entire series should be pretty dope! Analord 1 and 2 sound
like they will rock.

In all fairness, it's not like astrid-gil-botn is personally
answering our questions. Obviously (besides having a
negitive attitude about xlt) he is quite busy. Its coming
out either way as trentee (i believe) pointed out.

Although i think its cool that we have a situation for
questions, perhaps this would have been a good idea when the
fakes surfaced.

not meaning to argue but two remixes wasn't analogue [seeing
it featured cut up breaks etc] , it seems the emphasis is on
drum machines n synths this time round - ie SAW1

I was just assuming they would be acid tracks based on the
track titles. It's the same naming convention as the 2
remixes. Sometime Aphex track titles can be pretty telling
as to the content of the track..

Also, early on there was some talk of Analord 10 being acid.
Though i haven't heard that lately as more details have come
out.

i hope there will be more hardcore/melancholic stuff. like
combination of raw atmosphere of cock10 with some
bubblebath-esque delicate touch. anyway - i would love
everything from this guy, except "ktpa"(bulshit

what will the style be, different styles on different
vinyls(etc...acid, techno, drill$bass)?

is it just going to be noise's of richard and grant laughing
in a tunnel saying"we fucking skamed you lilel punks ouuit
o' muney"?

will there be a music video alongside analord, or ever there
will be a aphex twin video-clip?

has richard finished his contract with warp?

I was wondering about this. I vaugely remember some artist
who'd heard them (soundmurderer perhaps) mention there were
a few breaks in there... Perhaps sampled "analogue" IE vinyl
onto tape loop?

I wonder how 100% analogue it'll be. I bet there will be at
least some digital stuff on there, even if the vast
majority is analogue.

Actually, that could be another question,

"Will it all be 100% analogue- you know, no digital
samplers, an analogue mixer, recorded to tape rather than
HD?"

What is the story with Richard's 'stage' names? If Aphex
Twin can only be used by Richard on WARP releases then
Rephlex have fucked up by putting it on the Analord release
hence the long wait whilst they reach a gentlemans agreement
with WARP?

Can Grant clear up this whole name thing once and for all.
Is it true that he can only release under particular names
with certain labels? (yeah I know GAK is also on WARP).

Ta.

I think he's arranging the posting of so many parcels all at
once and seeing how to go about it. I don't envy that task
as

a) Royal Mail are fucking useless twats.
b) I'm lazy and want my analord.

If you're a business, other couriers are fine. If you're
getting something shipped to a home address, royal mail best
IMO. Reasons:

1. Consistantly put "we tried to deliver a parcel for you"
slips through the door.

2. Pick up points are near to most people- I've never had to
go more than 3 miles, from any address, to collect a parcel.
Compared to 20 miles with some couriers, that's a big
bonus.

3. It's usually not battered to pieces when it arrives (DHL
and Citylink have both knackered things sent to me, royal
mail never has).

That's not to say royal mail are flawless- they're slow,
overpriced and prone to "lose" things. Personally, I reckon
a lot of "losing" things are pikey postmen stealing them,
but there you go.

hmm, but there's like 1000 pieces, 2000 at best...im sure
even royal mail can deal with that. is no one using
conventional mail in uk anymore?? first they close it down
for like two weeks and then they're having troubles sending
out 1000 parcels?? even the post offices in the uncivilized
world (here) do that without a problem...i hope someone gets
it by tomorrow and puts it on slsk coz it's killing me!!!

Maybe B2B is better with couriers which is what I usually
use and not one complaint: good service and quick. Perhaps
you are right that RM is better for bulk mailing though.
Seems odd that the couriers don't grab this slice of the
market though. Surely there is a stack of cash to be made
here.

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2005-01-13 08:11 [#01456062]
Points: 23533 Status: Moderator | Followup to tolstoyed: #01456025 | Show recordbag

Royal mail used to do "normal" post- letters, bills etc. at
close to cost and make their money from shipping parcels.
Consequently, we've seen several couriers spring up that
deal exclusively in parcels and hence, can undercut royal
mail by quite a considerable margin.

As a result, it wouldn't suprise me if 2000 parcels going
through one small (local to rephlex HQ) post office caused
some disruption.

I'm not one for state sponsored capitalism, nor vehemently
anti-privitisation on principle, but the mail is one thing
that should of definately stayed centralised with
government, IMO.

Erm, Back on topic:

Have the delays with this release (10) been purely down to
the binder/mailing them out yourselves? More importantly,
can we expect 1-9 to be on time?

Also, can you confirm there will indeed be 10 releases in
total? You're not going to skip any numbers or add any in,
eg analord 9a, analord 9b on different records etc.

Are there 10 spaces in the wallet, or space for 10 proposed
releases? Eg are some releases going to span 2 discs?

it would be pretty shitty to send a confirmation e-mail and
