thanx all. It's strange you mention big fish because I went
to the video store just 5 mins ago and saw the dvd cover and
thought "that looks quite similar to my painting..."

I agree,
if you would put some more effort in those trees you would
have a nice painting.

I would agree. I can't be arsed at the mo to add more detail
but I may in the future. In real life though the trees do
look better. It's an A1 sized painting.

it's a bit like a painting for the cover of a children's

and I don't mean anything nasty by that.

The more i look at it (and i'm sorry to say this and shit),
i just don't like it all that much. It is nicely lit,
and that's hard to capture in landscape painting
(particularly in acrylics), but it just doesn't push my
buttons. This kind of painting feels like just that: a
kind of painting... just a bit generic.

All the same, i'd like to see a higher-quality photo, it's
easy to miss a lot of the detail in a small photo like
that.

And also, it's nice to see two (TWO! Count 'em) people
spamming photos of their artwork tonight. I'd like to see
more.

O yeh, I also want to say that "BoC - Music has the right to
children" is the best music ever to paint to. I love that
album way too much.

Aaargh man, i've heard a couple of ArtyAcquaintances say the
same thing, but i just can't see it. I simply can't paint
and listen at the same time, it influences me way too
strongly. I need silence or as close to that as can be.
Otherwise it comes out all twatty. It's weird.

offline Raz0rBlade_uk on 2005-01-05 17:51 [#01446914]
Points: 12540 Status: Addict | Show recordbag

That's strange. We must be opposite because I find it's
essential for there to be music whilst I paint. It can't be
too fast because that fucks me up. Usually chilled out BoC
tracks are perfect.

during my studies i shared room with my mate who just HAD to
have some music playing while painting. one morning he
started painting some doves [ a gift for somebody ] - before
i left for school he told me to play Tortoise "glass museum"
looped. When i got back after about 5 hours he was still
painting those doves - and that Tortoise song was still on !
:)
that was a creative trance i think

I write with music on, most of the time.

it helps me concentrate. I can have listened to a complete
album and then suddenly realise I can't remember actually
hearing it.
