I always seem to be in trouble...

offline Skink from A cesspool in eden on 2005-01-03 10:38 [#01443338]

I seem to be getting psycological tricks played on me by my
housemates and anything i tell them they don't believe. I
know they are pissed off with me about some stuff i did,
which i owned up to BUT grrrrrrrr! It's like in future i
shouldn't fucking say anything.

I am now stuck in a situation that i don't like but i can't
really do anything without offending someone with my
actions.

Grrrrr. Sorry i needed to say something.

Tell us the "shit" that you "owned up to". You didn't knock
one out in the milk, or defecate behind the radiator or
something?

I built up my harem by taking shits behind select radiators
and micturating in select soft drinks.

AH ok...

WHat i did: I didn't much around the house for a while
because i most of the mess was not made by me so i thought
well why should i do it, it isn't mine. I also used a bit of
my housemates food because i was starving. I understand that
might anny people i took the flack for that no problem. But
it has ended up being translated yesterday when i got back
that i was using loads of their food when in reality it
wasn't much.

Next thing: Just before new years i got mugged about ten
minutes from my house, my housemates were at a party that
night so i couldn't call them or anything. I let a note
saying that i had an odd night and stuff and another apology
about my behaviour. The next day, i get the same shit from
the same person who mugged me the night before. So when i
got home i packed some stuff and left to go and stay with
some friends because i don't really like feeling unsafe.
When things like this i tend not to think in a rational way
because of fear so i forgot to tell them where i was, i sent
a message on new years. Saying that i hope they have a good
time.

When i got back yesterday, i got accused of fabricating the
mugging story so i could go and that i was trying to make
them feel bad. They also think i am hiding stuff from them.

I also know because they told me that they perform psycology
on me by trying to get to me make inaccurisies in my words
to call everythinbg that i say bullshit.

Ok so is it me or should i not feel like i am being put
under pressure. My head as it is, is already at braking
point with other things that i am trying to sort out. I am
starting to question what the hell is going on here,
starting to doubt myself more than ever. Wtf??!!

Division of labor/chores and food eating are pretty big
deals in a roomate environment. Violations always lead to
conflict.

I believe your mugging story but if you have been bending
other rules in the house, your roomates probably don't even
want to hear about it.

Stop eating their food and everything will be ok.

call the police?

from your story, your housemates sound completely nuts. i
don't know what to say.

I admitted to the food and i used about three onions and i
always thought that the milk was a shared commodity.

I want to move out really but i know it will end up with the
same shit and i'll propbably be accused of betraying them
you know. I mean there is alot i could say but it is a
complex situation. I don't need to fee like an asshole more
than i already do you know. I don't like this living in fear
bullshit.

if they already do not trust you, disappearing for a few
days without saying anything makes it a LOT worse!

sounds like you could be not communicating very well with
them? and not just because you might not like them, I mean,
in general?

Well when i start feeling shit about the stuff i have done i
find it incredibly difficult to talk about anything. It's
like someone has turned down my amp and then i can think of

well, if you don't talk about stuff, they're going to keep
assuming the worst.

the "eating the food"-thing isn't the problem, the "not
being upfront immediately"-thing is.

you should have a house-meeting, talk to them. and if they
keep being iffy about it, propose to move out at some point
(if you want to ofcourse..), see how they react to that.

you should sell the rights to your story to some movie
producer...this is good stuff (if it wasn't tragic for you),
i mean what are the odds to get mugged twice in a row by the
same guy?? and on top of it all people giving you hard time
over food...can't get more bizzare than that..

they are probably looking for you to just be 'normal' if you
can understand that, now i am not saying that you are
strange or anything, it has already been said to communicate
more, that is the key, tell them the truth and they will see
no ill will, they probably think you are hiding something or
sneaking around if you give them the silent treatment.

Just buy a shitload of food and booze. Come in. Get them all
together and say something. If they're in the wrong then at
least they'll feel bad about you having to make the effort
to keep things together.

Nah, I think that's all in your mind. If I bitched at
someone for drinking my milk and they went out and got me
some more then that would make me happy.

..But on to the bigger issue. I propose that you have a
house meeting like qrter said (he is so smart). Replacing
the eated food would be a nice way to kick off the meeting.

"OK, so Randall.. you are mad b/c I ate your grnola bars...
wait... what's this King Size Snickers!?!? this mut be
yours.. And Emily, runnin' a little low on milk, eh? Maybe
THIS CRATE OF BEER will help!"

it definately sounds like it's much too late for that.

they're already attacking him for thinking of moving out,
why should they like it if he buys food?

like skink himself has said, it has little to do with the

well then, it sounds like the roomates have rallied
themselves together with skink as the whipping boy then.

i'd suggest the food & booze party (while simultaneously
looking for alternative living arrangements). if the party
doesn't work out, then you could always gracefully bow out.
