what the hell is this about? I just read that Richie did a
soundtrack for Nintendo-games (that he was asked to do in
1993, later in 1997 he was too busy), and that this
soundtrack (also containing a short version of a track from
Richard D. James album) should be free for download.

Anyone got anything on this???

I seen this...I mean I have everything else, and I have
heard of that album...

sigh...

it's like the fact that i've been stuck between 7000 and
8000 points on this MB for far to long...I was more into it
in the ol' days.

All the work with music, and all the weed-smoking and
parties, has maked me unworthy of ze board..

I NEEL DOWN BEFORE YOU GREAT LEADERS OF THE MESSAGEBOARD

...or: I just didn't notice

hmm...gonna find my joint and forget about this horrible
mistake...you all should too!

This mistake should never be forgotten, and should serve as
a warning to others, so that they might never make such a
grave error as to give the impression that somewhere, out
there, exists new or unheard Aphex material.

I agree w/ the dling live shit.

Anyone got track 10 longer than a min!!! it cuts at a min.

Also, whatever happened to the "remastered" melodies cd that
was floating around? Some fan suposedly did a tweek job to
it, and leaked it. But never heard it, or if it was any
good/much better.

the Nintendo game thing sounds like a myth to me. I have
heard the same thing, but if it was seriously commissioned
for a Nintendo game, then why wasn't it written with the
specialized system sound bank? It seems like the sonic
palette is too big, especially for the systems around in
1993.
Still, I could be totally off. The music does have a campy,
video-game like quality to it. And hey, Trent Reznor
actually did Quake so I suppose it's not out of the
question..

1) it wasn't a nintendo game it was a computer game

it's not really that good.

loads of bands scrap an album and start again, that's
probably what happened.

offline dog_belch from Netherlands, The on 2004-09-11 21:23 [#01332314]

It does sound like the bridge between ICBYD and RDJ album,
and it isn't very good, like AB5 isn't that good. It's of
interest to the tragic fans (and I count myslef amongst
them) and there's nothing wrong with it, but, there's
probably a good reason why it wasn't released commercially.
A reason that should have been extended to Ventolin.

ahh the humiliation of the standout track being a remix by
cylob. my ab5 master is also well hidden from view somewhere
between dead or alive and depeche mode.

fucking RIGHT.

the remastered version is excellent, the crappy old version
doesn't do the tracks justice..

i think it's is a pretty damn good album, it's just not very
impressive or technical

how can you not love goofy little tracks like these

if the remastered version is the one stating 24 BIT REMASTER

i think it is not very good well done...

1° why 24 bit when he obviously did it from either
a) a tape or b) mp3's coming from a tape...

2° he clearly EQ'ed it too much and compresssed/boosted it
waaaay tooo muuuch (IMO)

3° noise reduction = baaaad, if only because of the lost
high freq, i much prefer some hiss to the sound

compare them with the old ones, sorting out volume issues,
and it's clear that those 24 bit remaster have lost some
ambiance and subtlety...
