They have asked and await a response from Nintendo.

They never responded to my offer:

A case of PABST blue ribbon and some old Hustlers from the
late 90's.

Damn them.

Jesus, I hope Nintendo doesn't give up the goods. Mario
Kart: Double Dash is the greatest thing since Super Mario
Kart.

If Microsoft buys Nintendo I'm switching to Linux and never
buying another microsoft product again. Fucking greedy
bitches. They need to just accept the fact that their
console, despite being a computer with an identity crisis,
will never be up to the standards of the Big N.

"US software giant Microsoft is interested in buying
Japanese video games group Nintendo, German magazine
Wirtschaftswoche reported on Wednesday.

Microsoft co-founder and chairman Bill Gates told the weekly
on the sidelines of a conference with analysts in the United
States that he would immediately make an offer if Nintendo's
majority shareholder, billionaire Hiroshi Yamauchi, were
ready to sell.

Nintendo today flatly denied the possibility of a takeover
by Microsoft, saying the leading game company was not up for
grabs.

"Nintendo is not on sale, and there is no such talk at all,"
Nintendo public relations chief Yasuhiro Minagawa said.

Minagawa said Microsoft had never approached Nintendo for a
possible purchase of shares. "

Even if they did buy Nintendo I doubt that would mark the
end of Nintendo games such as the various Mario
incarnations. However there's not much point in the same
company producing two competing consoles (Xbox,GameCube) so
one of these would probably be phased out..

i wonder when the Microsoft Empire will fall...
definitely not tomorrow, but it's bound to happen
someday...

maybe they'll get involved into politics as well, and other
stuff, and it would stay for centuries where people would
live under the total Microsoft domination, with a Microsoft
dictator/president, drinking Microsoft water, eating
Microsoft fruits, reading Microsoft newspapers etc. until a
revolution takes them down... and then maybe hackers would
dominate the world... (hmm, whatever)

by the way, Sega was bought by Sammy lately, no?

i'd be surprised (and very discontent) if Nintendo was
bought by Microsoft, but nothing is forever - Metroid Prime
is ace, Wind Waker was very good but i've been really
disappointed by Super Mario Sunshine (and a bit by Super
Mario Kart Double Dash too)...

it's just a semantic misunderstanding! it's about the fact
that one of the guys in charge over at Microsoft bought a
Nintendo instead of an xbox!

the fifth (AX?) one, i fear it's a bit too hard for me
though...

my friend has a gamecube and thinks most of the games for
the system are shit. i hardly play video games anymore so in
my point of view i feel if the merge does occur it will
mutally be beneficial for both companies. those are just my
two cents :)

Nintendo happenED anyway. This won't affect my ability to
buy cheap nes games on ebay. Who cares who owns the pile of
slop called gamecube.

Nintendo made the same mistake that Apple did in the 80's
making it very difficult for third parties to publish
titles. Using the small DVDs in the game cube was stupid
too, most multi platform games had to be cut down to
accomodate the silly little disks. They really should have
learned from their mistakes on the N64 and that if they had
used CDs rather than cartrages they would have blown
Playstation out of the water as the N64 was far superior,
but Nintendo wanted to controll the manufacture of the
games.

The Xbox on the other hand is the best console on the market
right now and has managed to get a good slice of the pie in
an already satuarted market. I am not a fan of Microsoft for
the simple reason that your own software should be able to
be stable on the operating system you make. In simple terms
Word should not crash Windows, ever. But the Xbox and the
market strategy they have adopted is really good.

I think that Microsoft could do wonders with Nintendo but
the Monopolys and Mergers Commision would never allow it.

I imagine they would merge the two systems into one new
system and keep all exclusive titles for each. Even though
it would be nice to see Gamecube have the amount of games
that the other two systems have I would hate to see
Microsoft assimilate them. Microsoft and Wal-Mart are like
the Borg.

Games like Zelda: Wind Waker and Mario Kart: Double Dash
have restored my faith in Nintendo. They're just really fun
games that are great to play when a lot of people are over.
Long-live Nintendo. X-box, shit, I never touched that thang.

Bill Gates has asked before....it's not going to happen.
Yamuchi doesn't want to give it up. A recent report stated
that this is just "wishful thinking." It's not going to be
happening anytime soon or at all for that matter.

I don't think it would be too bad for Nintendo, they'd
clearly still be a total powerhouse, the biggest third party
in the history of the milky way. The Gamecube hardly has any
worthwhile games that aren't first party anyway.

But on the other hand, I don't like two console races. Three
is perfect for me.

Nintendo will be even MORE nichey next gen, but I don't
really mind. I'll be down 200 bucks for the new system, and
have a few more tangled cords around my room, but that's
life.

Wimp- if you've never played Xbox, how can you say it's
shit? Ninja Gaiden destroys anything Nintendo's done in
years.
