Interest rates are now 1.25% and Fox News has announced the
days of cheap borrowing are over?!?!?!.

Fuel prices...interest rates...Americas devistating
increases aren't even half of our normal levels in the UK.

haha actually I wasn't going to put the question mark in
there and then I thought it might be a little inflamitory to
the more 'patriotic' citizens of the United States.

America is a very selfish country, economically
and ideologically - this is often mistaken as "evil", but I
define them a little like this:

Selfishness: Fucking over another person / country / company
to further your own Self.

Evilness: Fucking over another person / country / company
just because.

As you can see, sometimes the definitions will come
perilously close to overlapping, leading to a blurring of
the terms.

Re: tax cuts & GDP growth rates.

If you know anything about politics & economics, you'll know
that the right very often get into power on promises of tax
cuts - because thats what the people want to hear.
however, the benefits that come with a tax cut are only
short term. but by te time eveyone works that out it's
usually too late.
it's fairly simple to grasp:
if more people have more disposable income, they spend it &
on paper the country's gdp growth looks great.
but, with less tax money coming in, the nation's basic
services suffer in the long term - because there's no longer
enough money to support them properly and people start
cutting corners.

when appealing to the part of the voting demographic who are
swayed by whoever will make them pay the least taxes, the
left will always be unpopular, as they are usually the only
ones realistic enough to admit that in order to maintain &
improve standards, long term investment is required.

not enough people think in the long term though; they're
always looking for the quick fix, and thats why the right
will triumph.
you don't think it occurred to them how lucrative this war
in iraq stands to be for america? how else do you think they
are going to fill the massive hole left by the tax cut.

think about it; it's impossible for what you put in and what
you get back to be inversely proportional. a lot of people
seem to fall for it though, time after time..

ok.
i bow down to you.

clearly all my economist friends are wrong.

oh, and i wasn't disputing 3months being RECENT. i was
saying that three months is nothing like LONG TERM.

be careful where you source your figures though. you can
communicate anything with the right stats.

monoid's already found stats that contradict yours, and i'm
sure there are plenty more out there - all of them twisted
to support a vested interest.

from life experience, rather than book learning, it's fairly
evident that - long term - it's only a relatively small band
of the population that benefits from an economy run in this
way.
usually, they're the ones in affluent positions, with the
loudest voice.

first of all that website i posted speaks about different
aspects of the nations economics well being, not only
employment. monoid presented was only about unemployment
rate in specific areas which has nothing to do with the
OVERALL of the country which is at 5.6% (another
unreputable source) i'm sure you know that is considered a
faily low unemployment rate.

Yes, overall US unempl. rate was 5.6 percent
in first quarter.
Outlook for US. I think the US has outperformed most
other economies for decades and not just due to the Bush
administration. Remember the repercussions of macroeconomic
policies often take more than a presidential term before
they are observable.

Bah

Fuck it.

I don't care anymore.

All you wankers can take your cheap shots and low-life,
indirect, unbacking...meaningless comments all you want.

Does that really satisfy you?
Every thread about US is just filled with these stupid
little comments. Usually from people who (by following
comments, or lack their of) have showed your inexperience
and lack of education on the very matter.

Shows your ignorance as well. Can't truely address the
subject but feel the little rhetorical and obvious cheap
shots will fill the void.

Well ..... I could care less.

I live a great life. I have very little to worry about.
My country is now being represented to you, not by the 250+
million people, but rather as a single entity usually formed
by the news or media.

By allowing yourself to do this, well ... certainly skews
any all and comments at hand.

I don't even know how you can simulate in your head that
what you see on TV and on the news, is how we all live.

Obviously...ignorance is bliss.

Enjoy your cheap little comment. I hope it felt good to try
and take a stab at the situation by showing your ignorance.

BRB, back to my wonderful life.

not once have i aimed a criticism at the 250+ million
inhabitants of america.
i try to avoid generalisations at all cost.
they just confuse things & misrepresent innocent people.

on a slight tangent.. i've never understood the american
expression "i could care less"
in england we say "i couldn't care less"
i - could - not - care - less.
ie: i care so little for this that it is metaphysically
impossible to care any less than i do.

but if you say "i could care less" - you're saying that it
IS possible for you to care less about the subject in
question; therefore you DO care about it.

i'm not being obtuse.
i REALLY don't understand that expression. it means the
opposite of the sentiment you seem to be trying to express.

behind childrentalking views, i think hes wrong. But there
arent many americans here for you all to judge us by the few

The ratio of americans to the rest of you are very high.
Youre judging us by our president, and the few people that

PRESIDENT IS A DUMB FUCK WHO THINKS LIKES HIS FATHER. AND I
DONT AGREE WITH MUCH OF THE AMERICANS THAT LIVE HERE.

But since you guys have the advantage here-GO talk all this

i reiterate:

"not once have i aimed a criticism at the 250+ million
inhabitants of america.
i try to avoid generalisations at all cost.
they just confuse things & misrepresent innocent people."

if i sometimes question the actions of your country or
express concern about how it's actions are portrayed to
other nations, please don't take it as a direct criticism of
you.
i don't feel responsible for the decisions my government
makes on my behalf.

but you should be aware that how the rest of the world
perceives the actions of your nation (nb: not YOU, your
NATION) is not something you can or should ignore.

and yes, the media of other countries probably do twist
events to paint a negative image of the US (the same way the
US media twists fact - such is the nature of the media), but
as they say; there's no smoke without fire.
there must be a reason that america (not YOU, your NATION)
seems to rub so many people, countries, and organisations up
the wrong way.
