Fess up, who likes the first 2 Thief games for PC? Maybe
THE biggest pioneer in the stealth genre.

This is the dopest one yet. Oh man, you can smell the
medieval body odor off those sitting duck guards when you're
sneaking through corridors and tunnels in this game.
Atmospheric deluxe. The game plays exactly like a
olden-tymes Splinter Cell, right down to the identical
button layout. Y to jump, X to crouch, etc. The lack of a
sniper rifle really complicates things, because you have to
get up close and personal with these stinking unbathed
castle-dwellers when you want to stab them in the face.

It's also a lot like Deus Ex- Invisible War for Xbox...
seems to be using the same engine, physics (environmental
and ragdoll), and lighting system. Better framerate, though.
And it's just all around more refined.

Anyway, I'm trying to find out how to open some wretched
vault, I think I have to go kill some guy and steal his key.
No sweat off my sack.

What's the first Thief like? Back then, I didn't have a
computer with the necessary horsepower for that game. I'll
probably download it after I beat Deadly Shadows (a game
which you should buy).

I have only ever had 3 games for PC, Quake II, The Dig and
Thief 2. Thief 2 is ace.

It's tough to find shots that do it justice! They're all so
dark. A still shot doesn't do the lighting justice.

Yeah that looks great. I played the first Theif, but I loved
Deus Ex 1 + 2 even more.

I loved the first Thief.
it is probably the only game that i ever played that could
scare girlish screams out of me.

too bad my weak ass computer could never run this kind of
thing.

Yeah man, thief was great, I think it was the first one.
Don't know if I ever beat it. But it was a game where the
gameplay and story fused very well. The fucking zombie
levels. Descending into the huge crypt was good.

whut?

I thought Thief would have been better if they had only
stayed away from those fucking annoying zombies!

Yeah, but it was like actually frightening. "aw shit, I'm
not going to get through this game unless I go down there
with all those zombies".

like in Silent hill, where you go "aw, fuck. I've got to go
past all these mannequin-parts and that blood-stained
hallway to make the game!"

My computer can't run it either... but the Xbox can. 42 inch
HDTV Thief, baby.

I'll be lucky if I can run Thief 1 and 2 on this piece of
shit...

Update, Thief 3 is phenomenal. I played it for about 6
hours, and didn't really get anywhere... just experimented
in the city with the gear and the AI. And I hear there are
zombies in the game later on... makes sense, since I just
found some flasks full of holy water.

It runs fine on my computer, but I'm running it at 800*600.
I don't mind making the tradeoff with the resolution because
I have a little AA turned on and when I'm busy playing the
game, I don't notice the jaggies too much.

Anyway, the game is dope as shit and I love the fact that
I've been putting it off for a day now because I don't want
to do the zombie level. It's such a creepy game.

wooooo.

geforce 4, ti 4200

Since it'll run on that, you should have no problem.

Everybody I've robbed or pickpocketed, I've also stabbed in
the head and hid in the bushes. Am I being a bad thief?

The original Thief was rad, till you get to the levels where
you are fighting... giant balls of... volcanic rock... that
shoot fireballs at you. That was gay.

yeah the Thief series is really good, nice and sneaky
harold.

I just finished Thief 3 yesterday, it was good fun, and
wasnt super short like most games are nowadays. The graphics
were quite good considering, the physics wasnt so great but
over all a good game worth playing.

Deus Ex 1 and 2 were very good also, but I found 2 a little
short.

From memory the previous Thiefs used the same graphics
engine as System Shock 2? Am i correct? I cant remember well

Deus Ex: Invisible war was a huge letdown. I played it on pc
though.

I have Thief 2. Never completed it as some fucking bug in
the game kept asking me to insert some sodding CD. Oh
fucking nice one as it was already in there. Spent 200000
hours downloading a 40meg patch on dial up and that didn't
fix it. I gave up at that point. What i played of it I liked
though. In fact I think I'll revisit it soon.

IT WON'T FUCKING RUN ON MY COMPUTER.

well, the demo won't.

my graphics card is shit. :(

just about a month ago I played Thief 2 - I loved that game!
nice storyline, could really get into the stealthy thing. so
I'm pretty disappointed I can't play the new one. :(

(Thief 2 was the first one I played - I then bought the
first Thief and was extremely disappointed - the follow-up
was SO much better)

all the graphics I have seen the graphics in this game are
sub-par to modern standards. the few reviews I have read
also say how disappointing the graphics are.

BUT all the review also mention how involving the story and
gameplay are - much more important, imo.

knew it would be my downfall.

The graphics are good not amazing.... the graphics engine is
a bit heavy though. I have the game but I'll wait a few
weeks in case I get a new computer. Ah it's also a bit
lighter and more stable than Invisible War.

i used to like just hangin' around the drunk guards and
