he just strikes me as an idiot. who doesnt give a fuck.
hardcore mentalist. his music music stands out because its
not all like the usual emotion-laiden stuff that a lot of
electronic music and all its sub-genres usually are; its
just the sound that is so fresh and so fucking awesome.
stupidly extreme but such a refreshing change. respect to
his work. seeing him live is just like; holy shit, the guys
good.

i hate him.
for me all his albums sounds like the same. theres
difference between releasing good CD's, and releasing many
CD's, and VS is doing the second one.
i know he has probably loads of tracks, which he is
releasing now, but seriously, theres no progress in his
music.

and i dont like when someone releases 20 CDs with the same
stuff.

"I don't tell why I love him cause that can influence

> anyone reading this thread will be influenced anyway, with
all the answers... plus you already told you loved him... so
i don't think it matters, go on : )

i think he's irritating, always the same fast fucked-up
beats, it's annoying after a while and when almost all
tracks are like this it makes me want to slap the music in
the face and tell it to shut the fuck up.
and it's not very original, doesn't seem very researched nor
anything... on the album i have, the best melody wasn't even
by him... i may be wrong since i have no technical knowledge
but to me most of his stuff sounds very amateur.
now, i've been told the album i have (higgins 1972-2006) is
his worst, and there is one track i like off it, so maybe
he's done some good stuff too, among all the filler aggro
tracks...

higgins is a good "album", but it was really a collection of
tracks, not really thought to enter the same album

apart from this, higgins is not as good as his more solid
works which in my opinion are:

making orange things
songs about my cats
doll doll doll
winter in the belly of a snake
find candance

cant tell you now, i deleted them all, i've had them as
mp3.
but it was when he released that albert einstein song, and
badminton EP, kinda that period.

i didnt listened to all of them, but i listened them enough
times to say its all the same

Got 10 of his trax cant get into any of them apart from we
are oceans. I dont get it. I think there is a lot of great
technical ability there but to me its pretty emotionless
stuff. and i cant get into something that is void of
emotion. waste of time. fascinating nevertheless so i'll
continue to give funk a chance.

not all music has to be emtionally rich artworks, it can
just be entertainment, and thats not to say that it is
lesser music, you just have to appricate things for what
they are

I hate him because his music is so fast & mental everyone
ignores the fact that there is nothing good about it other
than the fact that it is fast & mental. Which isn't actually
that good.

agreed and I prefer i.e. Hellfish/Producer beats to his;
also they are waaaaay better produced. VSnares sounds
"boring". But I do like some of his tracks (although I

that argument makes ab so lute ly NO sense. why do you
listen to music - or look at art, whatever?

because it does something to you! if you like snares because
of the incredibly cool way he distorts his bassdrums and
cuts up his samples, it has an emotional value to you.

I disagree. Just because his work is not always melodic
doesn't mean its not emotional. 'Winter in the Belly of a
Snake' is a very emotionally affecting album - it is harsh,
violent and brutal, and that affects me very much.

Why is this topic still discussed? Do people think anything
will be solved? That any conclusion will be reached? It's a
tired debate, and it is completely irrelevent.

If you like fast, complex beats.. chances are you should
listen to him.

If you don't.. chances are that you shouldn't listen to
him.

It's mind-achingly simple.

well It's my turn now since i started this thread;

I will start with some replies posted in this thread, most
of the people who don't like his music is of the following
reason; they have only heard a few songs and didn't get into
it further cause they were overwhelmed by fucked up noise
what they don't like cause noise makes the body shivver,
tremble and weep and finally makes you run away from the
noise, that's just a normal natural reaction. But actually
that's the beauty of it; behind that fucked up noise there
are many layers, wich are constantly mutating and pleasuring
your ears like angels suck your dick. To get to these layers
you just have to listen very carefully and you definately
must not be affraid, fear is part of human emotion and his
music can be very scary sometimes, so get over that
otherwise you will never understand the beauty of his music.
The existance of these layers proves him being a great
producer, hellfish and producer are imo als great producers,
but they don't have those "extra" layers, also they use most
of time the same hardcore Basses and beats and same effects,
but i do like um very much. VS beat programming is one of
the best programming I've ever heard, almost every beat and
sound in his songs are different from the rest of the song,
still in their differencies they are an indispensable part
of the song.
I advise people who say "all his music is the same", to
listen to at least two different albums, cause they are
mostly far from being similar, apart from the fact that
venetian snares got his own sound, but I do remember some
other great artists who have that to, like SP for instance.

Emotional I agree with clint; most of his music drags you
into all kind of emotions, just pick the right cd for the
right moment. But for that you've to know em.
I love snares cause he got the guts to come out with this
great experimental post-modern electronic music and stands
for it no matter what the critics say, he does what he likes
and he doesn't give shit about your op

reiziger is old too, though he is in good shape, but we have
