gather together the names of the XLT musicians, so we can
put them in a series of head-to-heads, winners to progress
to the next round. Put artist names first (if applicable),
then their username.

Earvalve (kochlear)
Horsefactory
g1g1ng3r
ecnadniarb (do you have a separate artist name, lee?)
my-little-sister
princo
DJ Xammax
Kcinsu (zeus)
hyakusen
w M w
archrival
knobject (flea)
qrter
drunken mastah
the paul f savage orchestra (marlowe)
call (clic)
teapot
skink

..that's all I can be bothered thinking about ... others
list more names

there should be different categories for voting, like
Production, Structure, Inventiveness, etc - marks out of
five for each category. Or straight head-to-heads, or a
combination.

I have an idea to eliminate people, and take 16 or 32
members into the proper championships. If we use the three
criteria - production, structure, inventiveness - and give
marks out of 5 for each - then the top 16 (or 32) would go
through to the championship proper.

This is a good idea. Members submitting there tracks have to
give an honest rating for evry1 elses tracks.

Submit one track for the first heat or round,

Two for the next round etc

and one more for the final

so, is that the definitive list, then? I'm thinking that
participants must have at least 500 points, to show that
they are a part of the XLT community. how about that idea?

That is simply a list of XLT Artists that I have heard music
from during my time here. I am sure that there are hundreds
more artists I have left out.

As for your 500+ points idea, I know what you are getting at
and agree that it would be nice to include members that give
something to this community, but also consider the great
talent that would be excluded, since many names on that list
are fairly new to the board but have been making
consistently good quality music for years.

If there is such a limit then you can have 400 of my points,
your tracks are well worth the trade cozi/ore :)

Yes, don't exclude Scheme88 because they're a bit reticent
in the posting stakes, I am sure all 162 of theirs have been
constructive, worthwhile comments, unlike my 600 odd
misfiring comedy quips and poorly judged flames.

Yes, if you are thinking of including ALL artists then
dividing tournaments will be a good idea me thinks! I think
maybe splitting up the list into chunks of 10-20? Members
then having the winners of each to compete against each
others for the GRAND PRIZE :)

Yes, that's a possibility - would interest be sufficient to
carry out the plan?

offline Jazembo from The Earth ball on 2004-05-12 06:42 [#01184059]

Whose interest? The artist's or the tournament organiser's?

Maybe WooferAttack can create a shortlist poll for the first
group?

Users could then vote to decide who gets to go first. It may
not be fairer than random choice but it would fit in with
what the people who care about this want to hear, if you see
what I mean.

There should be enough names there to hold Tournaments for
many months, if you gave each finalised group 1 month to
submit their tracks, then maybe a couple of weeks of voting
for the winning track?

This is a great idea by the way, it could well turn out to
be more popular than the Remix Contests.

If I can be of any further help just let me know, I have a
fair bit of free time on my hands at the moment, plus a
little bit of info for all the members I listed above.
