no, Thad. these ARE the (ugly) reworked '97 versions.

Lucas has said those are the definitive versions, like he
wanted them to be.

he even said he will never release the original versions.

..the BASTARD.

i think g. lucas owes every starwars fan $5.

since 1983 he's done nothing but raise our hopes, and then
bash our excited little brains in with heaping helpings of
overcomercialized special effects garbage.

:'(

my weird redneck neighbor had eps4-6 on laserdisc. Those
were the best versions.. letterboxed, subtitles (for jabba,
etc) were in the letterbox, not obstructing the picture..
thx sound, pre-special edition..

beautiful~

Unless you're married, then it becomes naughty.

that depends.

when married, owning one Harry Potter dvd = kind of sadly
naughty.

two or more HP dvd's = still quite gay

I have the original trilogy (widescreen) on VHS, then I got
the reworked trilogy(widescreen) on VHS ad now I got a big
fat middlefinger for mr. Lucas if he thinks I'm gonna buy it
yet again, as for all I know in a few years he's gonna bring
yet another version "you must have" and another and so on
and so on. I think I spent enought money on the whole Star
Wars thing. I haven't even bothered picking up the
dissapointing episodes I and II on DVD and doubt I ever
will.

Is he still planning to attach Hayden christensens face over
Dath Vaders when he removes his mask?

That was the dunmbest thing I ever heard and I hope he's not
going to do it.

I'm not joking. I sear to God he was planning on doing that
AS WELL as filming some new scenes with the current actors
to slide in there.

As Frank says at the end of Hellraiser:

"And Jesus Wept"

I shall create a diversion by saying that stupid checked
shirts have all been banned. He'll be so busy trying to stop
that he won't have time to bugger around with the originals.

I bought the original three films in their very first (and
best) vhs letterbox edition (the white sleeves). And then
the "special" edition widescreen vhs boxed set. And that's
the point I stop. I realised that they were actually pretty
boring if you watched them over and over. I bought the
latest effort, that attack of the whatever on dvd. it's in a
box somewhere, ignored.

I only have the Special Editions of the originals.

I stole the Phantom Menace from where I worked THE DAY
BEFORE RELEASE!!!!!!!1 How crazy am I?

Anyway.

I've got these copies ordered anyway. I may try and get the
originals some day. I preferer those versions.
