Progress: Speculation on the Future
Current Trends: Artist pages (free mp3s, free hosting, unsigned artist indices)
Individual track purchases (iTunes music shop, Rhapsody, Bleep.com)
On Demand (Launch.com, Yahoo music) and Streaming (SHOUTcast, live365, iTunes)
Future Developments Will record labels become superflous? Will the market get oversaturated and return to record labels?
Will Internet promotion withstand the test of time? Will the Internet eventually rearrange the way music is made in the first place? For example, will the album format be a thing of the past?
