I, Robot - 3/5

better than i thought it would be but i felt it should have
been a bit more "thinky" and a bit less "shooty." i also
found Will Smith to be suprisingly tolerable which was also
unexpected!

before sunset - 3/5 - i always loved listening in on other
people's conversations. i didn't like ethan hawke's
character. the girl was cute though, probably the accent.
her hair looked nice up.

Dogville - 5/5. After making me feel angry with lots of
overdubbed injustices the ending was so relieving. all the
stupid motherfuckers got killed for good, hahaha. Nice film.
My roommate didn't watch it to the end - went to the kitchen
crying after Grace was put on a chain.

Weather Underground - 4/5. Just a good documentary with
Aphex Twin soundtrack (Cliffs, Junweythek Ylow). The film
produced the same feeling on me as after reading a book
about RAF, because they seem so alike to me, the only
difference that Weather didn't kill people as RAF did.

Dune (David Lynch) - ****

Gets ***** for the first half and ** for the second. I wish
Lynch would add more scenes to the second half of the movie,
there was meant to be 4 hours worth filmed. A directors cut
could be amazing.

The Digital Bits website has posted more information on the
upcoming Dune R1 DVD relase from Universal:
"The Dune: Extended Edition will be released in a metal snap
case (SRP $27.98). 2 versions of the film will be
included... a 137-minute theatrical version, and the
177-minute extended edition. BOTH will be available in
2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen (which would mark the first
time the extended edition was available in widescreen). The
theatrical edition will feature both Dolby Digital and DTS
5.1 audio, while the extended edition will be Dolby Digital
5.1 only. Extras will include never before seen
"behind-the-scenes" footage, documentaries on the special
effects, visual design and costumes, deleted scenes,
original photographs and artwork from the set (newly
resurrected from personal collections) and more."

the extended version would be nice to see but the addition
of scenes had nothing to do with David Lynch, he even had
his name removed from that version of the film.

Blade Runner (Ridley Scott) - *****

Every time I watch this i'm blown away, compare irobot to
this 20 year old film and tell me which looks better. They
certainly don't make em like they used to... and neither
does Ridley Scott, shame.

These DVD's are hard to get hold of now, if you want a copy
and don't want to pay a crazy price i'd get hold of one now,
they are already staring to become expensive on ebay.

I prefer the version with the monolougue not the directors
cut.

I think it has a better feel and reminds me of 50's
detective films

The ending was perfect. The film was really nasty and
depressing, Bela Tarr is the man.

Open Water - 2/5
Napoleon Dynamite - 4/5

Open Water was disappointing, not that it was poorly done,
but in regards to the way it ended.

The much-hyped Napoleon Dynamite was actually pretty funny
to me. I especially laughed at the part where Napoleon is
feeding the llama and where he's the guinea pig for the
"time machine".
