veer zaara - 2/5

this movie was far too long, far too cheesy and far too what
the fuck.

but the colors were pretty and everyone looked like they
were on e. i wish i could sing and dance so openly and
freely around my fellow humans.

sous le sable (under the sand) - 4/5

i would give charlotte rampling's performance a 5/5 in a
heartbeat, and the movie was really wonderful except for one
part: after marie's husband goes missing, there is a
confusing jump to the future, and it takes a while to figure
out that it is the future and not the past...but
it's important to know for the plot. so, see it if you get
a chance.

Howl's moving castle (Hauru no Ugoku Shiro), the new
animation by Hayao Miyazaki (Ghibli Studios), the people
responsable for Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no
Kamikakushi)

10/5

I wasn't as smitten by the previous film, The Flying Castle
(Tenk no shiro Laputa), as I was by Spirited Away, but this
one is easily on a par.

GO SEE

I liked Laputa - The Flying Castle a lot. It depressed me a
little because such beautiful things don't happen in real
life, fuck.

But i haven't seen Howl's moving castle yet.. only Spirited
Away, Totoro and Laputa.

yes I find that his films all have a certain
sadness/melancholy to them. Especially the part in Spirited
Away when Sen/Chihiro takes the train to see whatwasherface.

the sad part of it is, that I realize now, as long as there
are men there will always be evil

Pretty as a Picture: The Art of David Lynch - 5/5

omg all of you david lynch fans have to see this
documentary. it is soooo fun to watch, especially if you
love angelo badalamenti (you get to see them working on
stuff together, it rocks). it has tons of stuff about lost
highway, ie interviews with the cast, producer, mixer guy,
wardrobe lady, everybody. it's great to see bill pullman
pretending to play saxophone. also, they made the death row
set out of a FIRE STATION HALL! you must see this
transformation; it is excellent. go go go!

now if only the usa could get a nice edition of lost highway
on dvd....

documentary about Jack Nance? It's in my netlix queue now,
but I had never even heard of it until just a couple of days
ago. I love that guy.

a little dissapointing and nowhere near as good as Amelie,
still, worth watching once though.

in the company of men... i would have rated it 3.5 for the
sheer confrontationalism of it. that movie was an
experience you don't forget, and i have to give it credit
for that.

better movie out of it.
