My favorite today is Hard Normal Daddy, it's so easy to listen to but if you concentrate it can get really intense. Its also probably the most consistent.
My favorite album changes depending on what mood I'm in between Hard Normal Daddy, Music Is Rotted One Note, Go Plastic and Ultravisitor.

i think ultravisitor is my fave at the moment, altho it also varies between that, go plastic and hard normal daddy. and arent the live samples just tom's voice pitch shifted etc. because all the audiences sound the same (kinda odd that he would take samples all from one concert) and theres one guy in the crowd who randomly yells stuff (ie "cmon you cunt!") that sounds just like tom's yelling on "alive in japan"

ultravisitor. all of the best elements of his previous records are present here.. the jazzy experimentation | the skittering, hectic drum+bass | the fat acid-y squelches..
its his most complete work. everything i loved about his other records has crystallised.
i realise that ultravisitor is new, and therefore holds more novelty value than any of his others. it hasn't stood the test of time yet. but it impressed me more than any of his other records on first listen (and thats saying something, because ive loved tom's releases over the years - each one held something new + exciting) so just imagine what ultavisitor's going to sound like when youre more familiar with it.

musicisrottedonenote is a great album - but, as i said before, ultravisitor manages to juxtapose the jazzy feel of that lp with his subsequent forays into heavy programming. in a way - despite being a sprawling opus its a more balanced squarepusher album..
sort of..
anyway - i often struggle to pick "best" album's by my favourite artists. i tend to view the work as a whole. each lp being just another experiment/detour in their progression.
at this particular point in squarepusher's career - im really liking what i hear.
oh - and i am not mostly dumb. thankyou.

i can't believe nobody mention Go Plastic. It's his most fucked up piece and definitely the best.
its jazz stuff is boring : on ultravisitor and rotted note it's just one riff-one song, with boring progressions. you can listen to Go Plastic a hundred times you'll still discover things. No other album pushes me as far as Go plastic.
hard normal daddy is damn old and not in a good way.
come on kids ! too afraid to listen to go plastic ?

go plastic is great. but it's really hard to choose 'the best' album because they are different from each other. Jazz is Tom's biggest influence in his music. so if you don't like jazz, you are not likely to be big squarepusher fan. Without the love and knowledge of jazz, Squarepusher would've never being able to come out with something like Go Plastic. Consider that

depends on my mood... and even then its hard to choose.... right now im gonna have to say ultravisitor is his "best", for the reasons acrid milk hall put forward.... and probably my favourite cus its so diverse, and it has the most developed sound imo
go plastic is SO fucking dark and cold and hard and yet still STILL MORE human than so much electrnoic, in the way most squarepusher material is, i think its really underrated....
anyway i like it all
saw Amon Tobin last night and he played The Exploding Psychology... it was the highlight of his set for me
