when i was buying this one it was on MC , not on CD. The guy
in record shop said that its veeeery ambiental. when i
played it in home i thought that i wil kil this seller , but
by time i even liked it. specially cover art.

its one of my lesser favorites...

has some great tracks... but also some "meh" tracks.

Icct Hedral rocks... but the philip glass version is 100x
better

It falls kinda in the middle for me. I have albums of
richards that i appreciate more than this release. I also
have heard releases that were quite subpar.

I was just going to say :O, that since seeing a thrread
about people taking the crrown frrom Aphex as the King of
IDM, I went back today and played a few albums, at least the
ones that I could sit thrrough, and to me this album has
grrown betterr in time. It's maybe the only album that I can
put on and listen to all the way thrrough. It's outlived
otherr morre popularr rreleases of his. (imo)

Unlike most of you, I actually don't like this album as much
as his other releases. I'd prefer drukqs over it anytime.
It's not bad, but I've never really loved it.

It is easy to forget just how good Aphex is. Quite a few
times I have put some Aphex on and realised that I am only
remembering half of the tune.

Probably his best release, in terms of overall quality and
variety. The album that got me hooked.

Aphex tracks in there, of course, the mighty..

Alberto Balsalm

If you like SAW2, you'll love this - lots of the same
ambient goodness with mad beats thrown in for good measure.
Nothing beats the harmony and lovelyness of Alberto Balsalm.

just about all the tracks are awesome, although it would
have been better with the drill hes used more recently.

some of the tracks are really beautiful, and it's really
creepy at parts too... i love it... but it's still probably
my least favourite of all his albums released under the
aphex moniker...

still my favorite, even through all the nostolgic strings
attached.

'come on you slags' has to be up there as one of my favorite
sample injections.
that track always made me think of a bunch hitting up a
nitrous tank.

while in general rdj's great at putting complete albums
together, somehow that one's able to cover the gamut of
emotions, but still seem come together whole.

The only major album under the aphex twin moniker that I
havent bought. I do have the mp3s, and plan to buy it
eventually.

It's got some of his best work, like Acrid Avid Jamshred.
Everytime I've played that song to other people they get a
groove to the beat. Oh yeah.

of very bad ones. Gotta love mookid, but Cowcudisatwin is
his best ever work, ever.

It is a great snapshot of the state of flux and transition
of styles that Aphex goes thorugh. This is very the early
Harsh Acid meets the gentler IDM and hints at the drill.
To me it still sounds more like a compilation than an album.

THE aphex twin album for me.
(even though i prefer SAWII)

the only flaw in it is 'Come On You Slags!' (IMO).

" too bad we have such few track votings... :-/"

> *just voted! : )

(i think people just forget about voting... or maybe because
it takes a bit long, since you have to drift through every
track at once, you can't rate all the tracks on a single
window...)

I find it mostly boring but there are some great moments.

You can tell that with half his tracks, he simply cannot be
arsed. Not very nice for the poor consumer!

I'm not so keen on his slow IDM stuff, especially the
slightly hip-hop-ish moments on the album, really. It has
some of my favourite Aphex tracks, and some of my least
favourite Aphex tracks. For instance, I have absolutely no
idea how The Waxen Pith, Wax The Nip and Wet Tip Ten Ex go.
The tracks do nothing to lodge themselves in my head. And
Come On You Slags and Start As You Mean To Go On just sound
like cleaned up 'Classics' tracks (which I hate).

However, Acrid Avid Jam Shred, Icct Hedreal, Ventolin,
Mookid, Alberto Balsalm and Next Heap With I really like.
So it's an album of two halves, really, I suppose.

this is my story:

i had waited to buy this album for a while. it was one of
the few aphex releases left that i didn't have, and i wanted
a real copy, not just a cdr. everytime i saw it at a store,
and it would always be something crazy like $17.99, and who
wants to pay that much for a cd? not me. so the obvious
choice was amazon. wow! $10.xx brand new! so i bought it,
and i waited.

a week later:

woohoo! yeah! brand new copy of icbyd! i open it up, and
what is in the case? weezer's pinkerton. AAARRRG!!!! i had
been waiting so long for this cd, and what do i get? an
album i already have! so i write to the seller all pissy
like, and fortunately he's a nice guy and sends me a brand
new copy. but for that weeked (of course i was going on a
trip to vermont, and i was really looking forward to
listening to it), i had to burn a cdr. oh well.

excellent album, always in my car or on my ipod. loooooove
come on you slags!, mookid, alberto balsalm, and well the
whole thing.

hope you enjoyed my story.

i STILL enjoy this album - in fact, i remember the day i
obtained it - i was at work (damn, long time ago - i was at
WORK!) and it was busy as hell, and it was fucking pouring
rain outside. so obviously, i didn't get to listen to it
until i got home. i was almost late to work going all the
way across town to get it an hour before work, rather than
waiting for the next day.

anyways, i still enjoy this album. wonderful stuff. alberto
balsalm and acrid avid jam shred are two of my all time
favourite AFX tracks.

It came in the post today. So far I like this album although
I had already heard most of the tracks through other
sources. The cover picture is very nice.

I prefer the RDJ Album like a lot of you.

I would also say DRUKQS is slightly better, but maybe that
is because there are more track on Drukqs?
