Kill Bill Appreciation Thread

I am already sensing from the community that this might be
a love/hate kind of movie. I myself totally loved it.

I decided to start a thread for the appreciators of Kill
Bill.

Haters can start their own thread.

What did you love about this film?
what was your favorite scene?
what was your favorite line of dialogue?

i love the bit where The Bride is fighting all those guys
against the blue backdrop and you can only see their
silhouettes.

I also really liked the part where O-Ren Ishi and The bride
are talking and the only ambient sound is the soft clunking
of the water fountain breaking the silencences in their
conversation.

oh man i can't wait for volume 2 in February

For dialogue it was

"or was it i who penetrated you?" when gogo stabbed that
guy.

oh yeah, that was sweet. she was in Battle Royale right? i
thought i recognized her.

to answer the three questions:

1) i love the martial arts-style melee action, which is new
for Tarantino, who usually incorporated "shoot-em-ups" in
his past films.

2) I liked the scene where the Bride takes on all those
katana-wielding guys with suits & kado masks and then
there's one guy left, but he's too scared to fight her, so
she slices off pieces of his katana and gives him a spanking
and says "go home to your mother!"

3) the Bride makes it back to the Pussy Wagon and keeps
saying "wiggle your big toe", then finally it wiggles, and
she says, "hard part's over. now, let's get those other
piggies wiggling."

i also though it was cool when the Tanaka group was
"celebrating" and Boss Tanaka gets pissed off and argues
with the other members. the cool part though is when he
called O-Ren a racial slur and then she dashes over and
slices is head off as a warning to the others.

she truly knows how to take command!

yeah i thought the character of O-Ren Ishi was excellent. I
really loved how, after The Bride has destroyed her entire
gang, O-Ren is still bad ass enough to talk shit. But then,
after sustaining injury in the beautiful snowy fight scene,
O-Ren apologizes to The Bride for showing disrespect.

that was fucking tight.

February 20 is the release date i heard for Volume 2 by the
way.

i can't fucking wait. the only thing about this movie i
didn't like was knowing that i would have to wait 4 months
for the second half. I easily could have sat through 2 more
hours of this film.

was looking forward to seeing michael madsens character.

i agree with your #2 totally! That was so funny!

I've watched a number of Old kungfu movies before and
noticed the rediculous amount of blood they used. It was
good to see QT pay homage to that!

soo much blood.

i love after that big gang fight scene when the restraunt
owner lady comes out
and is slipping around on all the blood amongst the hacked
limbs.

the part when o-ren sort of tip toes across the table
quickly and slices that guys head off was great. just the
enormous fountain of blood that came out and the way the
shot was held for a couple seconds for effect. funny and
gory at the same time.

i actually just got home from seeing Kill Bill and its
definately one of the best films i've seen all year.

and i think it had alot to do with the music... it
completely amazed me that The Rza was behind the soundtrack,
wonderful stuff! the music was combining a western feel and
incorporating eastern instruments creating an intense melody
(especially at the end)

a plus! can't wait for Volume 2.. Micheal Madsen fight will
definately be a sight to see.

Chiaki Kuriyama is great I can't wait to see this film! I
hope they've ot cut too much out of the 2nd film from the
draft script I read last year, namely the redemption of Go
Gos death from her sister, that's my only worry.

It was OK.

I felt QT was a little "late to the party" on a few scenes,
and I wasn't thoroughly impressed like his others. I'm sure
it'll grow a bit. The sword fighting got a little old but
was quickly revived with the snow scene. God it was
beautiful.

Overall there were a few parts I was really bored in. That
huge sword fight really didn't sit well with me. I liked
seeing all the limbs @ the end, that rawked, but while she
was fighting all of them I didn't really go spastic :(

4/5stars

just watched it. It was good.

Was it just me or did her name get bleeped out near the
start?

I downloaded it and it kept cutting out every half hour to
show the 8, 7, 6, 5 etc test footage thingy.

weird

Her name got bleeped not only at the start but again when
oren ishii said it later on.

Where did you DL it from? I am dl'ing it right now and i
also grabbed a QT interview on the movie which would work
great together on a VCD.

The soundtrack also rocks hard!

that's funny. my opinion is exactly opposite your's about
the fight scenes. I thought they didn't drag at all. I was
actually very impressed with how Tarantino kept building
tension and then releasing it during the fight scenes,
breaking up the momentum so that i didn't once lose
interest. this is something that the Matrix Reloaded sorely
needed.

hype shmype. if a movie is good, it's good regardless of
hype. hype is just Miramax's way of selling more tickets
and eventually more DVD's.

at least there is no burger chain tie in (or is there?) and
no breakfast cereals (though there should be). I admit
though, if they make action figures i'm gonna buy them and
yes, play with them.

i heard that QT said in an interview that 12 year old boys
should buy a ticket to "good boy" and then sneak into Kill
Bill.

So,

Why do you suppose they bleeped out the Bride's name?
Anyone have any theories? Concealing her name would suggest
that if we knew her name, it would reveal something that is
being saved for the second movie.

Did anyone catch the loose reference to Fox Force Five from
Pulp Fiction?
they were an elite fighting force with different specialties
anyway.

Let the flame wars begin.

Defend this movie like you are the creator.

:)

I love how people back movies (almost want to get in FIGHTS
about someone not liking a movie) - as if they had some part
to do with it, or poured their soul into it.

I laugh it up :D

Overall 4/5stars

I've watched a lot of kung fu and I got bored at some
parts.

Maybe I'm being spoiled now. It's like, "ooo wow, look at
all the sword fighting.'

Yawned a lot.

The snow scene, oh oh my.

I loved that part.

yup RZA.. he and tarantino were a perfect match for this

there's a pic of QT holding a samurai sword w/ RZA on the
set

I would've liked to have heard a bit more of his involvement
in that tho.. check the wutangcorp.com website .. there's an
interview w/ rza in which he talks about how they worked
together each suggesting different songs etc

he could've used some of the heavily shaolin-influenced
works of days passed for this as well.. we'll see what he
did for vol2..

that one piece at the end of the anime thing he did was
