Hell yeah! I'm a huge Primus fan. My favorite album is
probably 'Sailing the Seas of Cheese' also. Some of my
favorite tracks that come to mind are:

Too Many Puppies
Harold of the Rocks
Here Come the Bastards
Tommy the Cat
Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers
Hamburger Train
Southbound Pachyderm

Pork Soda is my favorite. Followed closely by Frizzle Fry
and the solo album, highball with the devil. My Name is Mud
is one of the best primus songs. Mr krinkle kicks ass to.
Can't wait for new primus.

roses (meh) and les was doing his own thing.

I thought this would never happen. I'm actually more
excited about this than I was when I heard about AFX's
Smojphace EP. I will be pre-order this one. For anyone
that hasn't heard it, check out the album claypool did as
Sausage, and his solo album. I met him at a concert a few
years back. He gave me a beer, a cigar and an autograph.
There aren't too many things better than wathing someone
play a fretless upright bass without a bow and a kick ass
drum beat to go with it :)

and the king crimson guy? sounds promising....

I really like the attention defecit album with tim alexander
on drums and the guitar player from slayer I think?

I have every release up to Anti-Pop, which I didn't care
for. When Herb left, he took some of the magic with him. :(

offline FLUX on 2003-08-10 07:22 [#00816338]

Sailing the Seas of Cheese closely followed by Frizzle Fry.
Pork Soda is a dark dark album though, does anyone agree?

Yes. I think Seas of Cheese is dark in a few places as well.

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2003-08-10 17:55 [#00816861]
Points: 9601 Status: Lurker | Followup to FLUX: #00816338

Yes, Pork Soda is an incredibly dark album. It's actually
the first CD I ever owned! :D

And Clic, I do agree with you that Herb definitely took a
lot of the Bastardo magic with him upon his departure....nit
to mention that he's a far better drummer than Brain.

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2003-08-10 17:57 [#00816865]
Points: 9601 Status: Lurker

Seas of Cheese is a tad dark - Los Bastardos is kind of
creepy...

but that's what makes Primus unique - that mix of darkness,
humour, funk, country and metal is just irresistable.

Did anyone else here enjoy the Oysterhead project with Les,
Trey from Phish, and Stewart Copeland (ex-Police drummer and
soundtrack producer)?

offline Clic on 2003-08-10 18:51 [#00816896]

I think Brain has an interesting quirkiness to him, but
that's it. His playing doesn't seem as tight as Herb's.
Besides all that, I just love Tim's style. Basically the
reason I started playing drums.

i agree with you about brain, he's a great drummer, and i
must say i enjoy brown album a lot. buuuut, i definately
like tim better, it just wasn't primus w/o him.

anyone dig miscellaneous debris? i love every (all 5!)
covers on there, especially nigel + have a cigar

YES: PORK SODA IS DARK. I LOVE IT.

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2003-08-10 21:46 [#00816949]
Points: 9601 Status: Lurker

forck_02lynix - I have Miscellaneous Debris - it's one of
the most underrated releases by Primus (okay it's all
underrated but....) my fave track on there has to be
Intruder - and they did a DAMNED good cover of Pink Floyd's
"Have a Cigar."

Clic - I actually haven't heard Sausage or Laundry, actually
I heard the Sausage single when it came out and that was
about it. I heard the first Les Claypool solo album - it was
decent. Oysterhead is definitely worth a purchase if you're
a Primus fan - it's a combination of psychedelia and funk,
and Trey Anastasio and Les Claypool's voices go together
like peanut butter and jelly. Sweetness indeed.

afxNUMB - the album you speak of is "PORK SODA." Great
album, btw.

Herb. :D

There are some interesting live shows people should hear.
They were all improvised according to lesclaypool.com. Made
up of Claypool, Bernie Worrell, Buckethead, and Brain.
Called Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. Some
good stuff. There should be an album released sometime soon
by this collab as well.

Did you hear Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade
albums?

On the second one they cover Pink Floyd's "Animals."

other names aside primus, sausage, and oysterhead?
