Pics From My Gig

Hey, havnt been on the last few days, cause my nets down.
So I can only get on at work (and I wasnt in yesterday)

So I had my gig last night.

It was pretty good. The PA sucked, so it wasnt too loud...
and the acoustics where blargh... but whatever.

It was mostly people just talking with the music in the
background. I just sat at my laptop and improvised over a
backing track... and sure it isnt the most exciting thing...
but really, no one was looking (even for the first 2 acts...
who played up tempo breakbeat stuff) Although, some people
where looking from time to time.

And I got free beer all night.

The organizer recorded the mixer output to DAT, and is going
to record it to high quality mp3... so when I get that, Ill
let you all know.

Oh, and MIT girls rock.

Hot + Smart = teh ultra sexy.

Anyways, here are some pics...

kidding..

you're right tho, hot and smart is the ultimate in sexy, and
i'd think girls majoring in engineering would avoid the
snobbiness attributed to most ivy league girls

this thread reminds me of an excellent article i read once
about how electronic artists don't recripricat with the
crowds as rockers do. it even quotes something along the
lines of: "throwing their mouse at the crowd"

i need to hit that site again...*hint*hint*

zues - u seem to be in the know. what would you prefer as
more flexable in musical abillity and compatablity. a mac of
just a pc. ie: will a mac run reason

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-08-06 13:52 [#00812046]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

yeah, Reason works on a Mac.

the old Mac Vs. PC debate...

well, personally I like Macs better. Why? They crash less.
They are more user friendly, and they are (or are becoming)
the standard in the music industry.

But, if $$$ is an issue, then a PC will work fine for you.

oh, and zeus, i think you should have some sort of
pyrotechnics display for your stage show next time.

just use whatever you use, only try to use it live.

its possible with any program to do live sets. rewire helps
a lot too. being able to open multiple programs at once and
help make it seem more fluent as well.

ive never had any experience on mac, but i used "ableton
live" for my live show last here (view here and
here). though, i use it for making music straight
up even.

just experiment with different things i guess.

id only make visual elements to the music if they had some
sort of point along with the song. i wouldnt do cartwheels
or put fire all over the place when it has nothing to do
with the music

just going there to listen is good enough for me. if you
want fire and monsters go see a rob zombie concert. (which,
by the way, are fucking awesome. best show ive been too)

hmm. im not exaclty gonna do gigs, i havent even released
any music for download. i just need a new comp. my amd-k6-2
400mhz sucks the bucket. i just want to know what would be
the better choice. yes and i know macs a re good for music..
puzzler indeed

are you planning on just using reason?

if so... I guess it would make more sense to just get a
really nice PC, which will be cheaper then a Mac.

well, i use fruity loops and live and reaktor

if none of those are for mac, im not getting one any time
soon. i do use cubase though, but i dont want to trade off
really. one of these days ill probably get a mac, since
overall they are better for this sort of thing. just depends
on whats comfortable though.

dunno. doesnt help much :p

i guess its depends how i feel when i have the money in my
pocket
