Popcorn was awesome, it's a shame it was cut from the
re-release. Best cover I've heard in a while. And don't
forget about r2d2.

Oh man! R2-D2 is great. I love that track. Yet to get myself
a copy of J4 but I will :D I wasnt to play popcorn. I've
only managed to find a shitty mp3 so far.

there are actually differences.

The gentle one on J4 is 'On A Romance Tip', but I think it's
called 'Jedi' on the original release. My favourite is
'Cordiacatron', as well as the first minute or so of 'The
Garden of Cinmiri'.

offline Spaced from Mars (United States) on 2003-08-02 09:37 [#00805338]

Yeah is it just me or do the synth chords in Jedi sound
vaguley reminiscent of On?

And I think Pigeon Street was also once labeled as Caustic
Jingle.

Does anyone know why r2d2 and popcorn were cut from the
re-release? was it copyrights or for no good reason?

Pigeon Street was a cool little animated show in the early
80's with a great theme to it. You can look at and download
some of it's songs here. There actually is a
Pigeon Street in Manchester and Wisbech.

Popcorn was cut due to the compilation being pressed in
quantities of more than 1000 so that opened up the
possibility of being sued for copyright violation (Richard
more than 'covered' that song, and never gave credit to Hot
Butter). R2D2 was the same situation, since it uses actual
samples from Star Wars.

All the old names for the CW tracks were made up by the
original authors of the AFX discog that appeared on WARP
ages and ages ago... the original tracks were untitled until
Richard and Grant named them for the CW Compilation.

The differences Phobia speaks of are (for example) on the J4
releases, one is white and black (the label) and the other
is white and yellow (the second pressing, both limited to
1000 each)

Humanoid Must Not Escape only appears on the CD version of
the compilation, and on Joyrex J9i, which is the 10" picture
disc. It was left off the vinyl version of the compilation
for unknown reasons, perhaps to keep the collectible value
of the 10" disc high.

Thank you for clearing that up. I wish I had a copy of
those records. Cd's will have to do I suppose unless I get
rich.
