"Aliens vs. Predator: Well its official, the sci-fi teamup is going ahead after all with filming scheduled to begin this October in Prague under the helm of Paul W. Anderson ("Resident Evil"). According to Filmjerk, the story follows "human scientists going on an expedition to Antarctica to lure Predator hunters, using Alien eggs as bait. Of course, these plans quickly goes awry and the humans find themselves in the crossfire between two warring alien species". Casting agents are seeking seven major human characters (NONE from the previous films in either franchise are returning), including a gorgeous female environmental researcher, her hunky Egyptologist ex-beau, a gruff Han Solo-esque American archeologist, the billionaire industrialist financier who hides his terminal disease, the English-accented Afro-Caribbean team leader, a muscle bound beefheaded Texan, and a geeky but smart scientist. Interestingly with the exception of the female lead, the other six roles are to be filled by European actors. No word on how this moving ahead will affect filming plans on "Resident Evil 2". Thanks to 'Chris' & 'Rich'." - www.darkhorizons.com/news.htm

i'm convinced Paul Anderson will do a good job. Event Horizon shows he is capable of doing a alien film that could scare the living shit out of you

I would like to see this, but two reservations:
1. Paul 'Wasted Space' Anderson isn't really a good director.
2. When I read through the characters I thought they could come from a Jurassic Park movie.
I would be interested to know how this all fits into the existing Alien timeline. The 'billionaire industrialist' is a Weyland, and we know from Alien: Resurrection that 'the company' bit the dust.
If this bunch have alien eggs then I want to know how they got to earth...

How much more stupid can this world get and still keep functioning?
It's all about finding concepts that hopefully appeal to as many people as possible so that some studio can make an awful amount of money... Ah, I don't even have the energy to comment any more...let them do whatever they like.
I say, find some NEW ideas for a change.

antarctica holds as much potential for predators as peguins for the jungle.
i liked the aliens vs predator comic on the strange planet and the plot of predators letting aliens spread there to be hunted later as it is a good predator tradition to hunt dangerous species...
dome humans can play a good role in this plot. in the comic a cute woman survives as the only one and fighted shoulder to shoulder with a predator (who died?)in the end.
that was cool.
*loking forward to it, even when its gonna hurt*

Plot details, possible spoilers:
Alien vs. Predator: This past weekend's "Ghetto Con", better known as the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention, ran a 5-minute pre-production presentation on Fox's upcoming flick and 'Agent G' has the details: "They mentioned that 'not a frame of film has been shot yet', but shooting starts next week in Prague. They also mentioned that this tape played at their con last month, so it's possible that you know about this presentation already, but I hadn't heard much about it so far, so I figured no one would mind if I provided a quick recap of what was shown. The whole piece was narrated by director Paul WS Anderson ("Resident Evil").
As far as the story, we are told that in the past, the Predators used the the Aliens for hunting purposes, as a right of passage for the young Predator to become men (er, for lack of a better term). We see one such battle play out in an Aztec temple. Supposedly, the Predators were seen as Gods to the Aztec people (some shades of 'Stargate', it would seem), who built them their temples for worshipping and battle purposes. They showed some storyboards of one Predator defeating an Alien, holding its severed head in victory, as well as some boards where three Predator are overrun by thousands of Aliens, and upon realizing that they have clearly lost the battle, they activate their self-destruct. This is why so many ancient civilizations have been wiped out; Predator hunting failures.
Flash forward to present day, where a group of scientists have found one of the ancient Predator temples under an Antarctic icecap. The story revolves around 5 "teenage" Predators who are set to undergo their right of passage with the Aliens at this newly discovered temple, with the humans caught in the middle. There was also some brief discussion about the Predators testing out their new weapons technology. The video showed one example, a modified shuriken throwing star (apparently this weapon is 'in' again after 'Underworld'), wh

which starts as a small handle with a trigger and expands into 6 elongated razor blades. This was actually pretty cool looking. Anyways, that pretty much rounded out the presentation. They quickly flashed some shots edited together from the two respective franchises, and rounded it out with a tagline (which may or may not be the final one), "Whoever wins...we lose." All in all, hard to tell too much about the final product from the small amount shown". Thanks to 'Agent G'.

I am a bit of a Paul Anderson fan actually. No one makes B Pulp Sci Fi like he does, and some of them like "Event Horizon" even surpass their genre specified calling and reach a sublime level. Resident Evil WAS pretty weak but with a film as good as EVENT HORIZON under his belt I am willing to give him a chance. Even SOLDIER wasn't a bad flick, actually he frequently dips into 2000AD inspired scenarios (SOLDIER is basically ROGUE TROOPER without the blue skin), which I frequently connects with me.
But for those wanting a glimpse of what Alien VS Predator would look like I highly recommend trying to find this cool little fan made short film called BATMAN: DEAD END. Don't let the term fan made fool you. This side of Tim Burton, this is the best looking Batman film I have ever seen. You can probably find this short film on IFILM
