I don't think Nintendo is getting nearly enough respect
right now. I own a Gamecube yes, and my friends own all
three of the next-gen consoles, and while I can't argue
against the fact that Sony has the biggest selection of
games, not to mention some stellar titles, I believe
Nintendo (translates to "Heaven blesses hard work") deserves
some respect.

Its first party line-up literally decimates Sony and Xbox's
in terms of just well-created and exceptional games.

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker KICKS ASS regardless of all the
negativity it received and is still receiving due to the new
graphics engine.

Metroid Prime, (which I strongly believed was going to suck)
actually turned out to be a great game, and i hate FPS.
(Nothing personal, they're just not my thing.)

And Super Mario Sunshine, while childish in atmosphere, is
one of the most challenging Mario games, not to mention
platformers, that I have ever played.

Eternal Darkness is one of the BEST horror games EVER made.

And if you haven't played Animal Crossing yet, you're
missing out on some brilliance.

Next, I have yet to hear about someone's Gamecube crapping
out on them. I've had mine for months now and it doesn't
show signs of age whatsoever.

I continue to see PS2s and Xboxes crap out, mainly because
the hardware used to build the readers for both DVDs and
games is poorly made.

And now companies are starting to dis the console. Sega has
pulled all of its sports off the system, and Capcom has
cancelled several titles for system (excluding Resident Evil
4.)

I hope that American companies do not start to bail out on
the console. And now there are rumors flying about that
Nintendo may leave the hardware industry altogether and
become third-party as Sega did.

I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't bring myself to
play Mario or Zelda on any other system.

I'm just hoping that Nintendo's dominance in the handheld
market helps keep them financially alive in the States.

And yes, I do feel that Nintendo somewhat du

lovely feeling a long time ago.

I find that people always remenis (s/p) about nitendo games,
instead of appreciating them more when they're around.

Nintendo are great. The GC is being deemed a failure yet the
fact remains that it's still selling well for a console.
It's the comparisons being made to the other consoles of
today that's the problem.

i love nintendo for:

nes, snes, n64, virtual boy, game boy.

and, replay value. this week i've been playing DK3 again. a
few months ago i hooked up my nes.

i hate them for:

gameboy color, gameboy advanced sp. and for the ridiculously
high priced games.

one day i will buy a gamecube, if only for mario sunshine. i
know it will be worth the money.

Well i agree mostly... i adore nintendo and all their
consoles :-) Legend Of Zelda, The Wind Waker is possibly the
best game ever created. That game alone is worth buying a
gamecube for! Nintendo's own games certainly have a certain
undefinable quality that can't be found in other games.

"regardless of all the negativity it received and is
still receiving due to the new graphics engine.
"

Pfff, all the critisism is ridiculous! It's the most
beautiful game i've ever seen. Ever since the
videogame-industry went for 3D-games, people have been
raised to believe realism is the same as beauty. Graphics
are judged for how realistic they look, what the resolution
is and how many frames per second they manage to generate.
It's insane! And then nintendo releases a true work of art
like Zelda, and half the world doesn't understand it and
critisises it for being to cartoony and childish (whilst the
storyline is one of the darkest in the entire
zelda-series).

Haven't played Metroid Prime yet.

Mario Sunshine is a fantastic game if you just play all the
regular levels and rescue the princess. Grabbing all the 120
shines is terribly (and unnecesarily) frustrating... and
basically just not fun to do. It's a great game, but i think
the first Mario-adventure that isn't perfect.

"Eternal Darkness is one of the BEST horror games EVER
made.
"

Yeah i'm playing that one now. It has a great and intruiging
storyline for sure, and the insanity-effects are absolutely
fantastic! Such a great idea.
However the controls feel very sluggish (especially if
you've just spent the last month playing through zelda). I
keep getting surrounded by zombies who start hitting me, and
the controls are too slow too allow me to escape... a very
frustrating and unfair way to die. Also the save-system is
TERRIBLE! Why can't the game just automatically save? Having
to do it yourself gets very tedious, and it makes me mad
when i just made it past a really tough part, forget to
save, and have to do it all over again.
Also, right now i have to start the entire game over because
i saved the game whilst i had almost no energy left, and
right after the point where i saved there is this huge group
of enemies to fight. There's no way to survive that (one hit
and i'm dead!), and no energy-refill to be found anywhere.
If this is the best horror-game ever made, the genre still
has a long way to go ;-)
It's not a bad game, but all the faults make it very
frustrating at times.

(another thing that annoys me is that all the questions have
been set to anwser "no"

"do you want to save? Yes/No"

And then the "no" is flashing. So if you just want to
quickly save the game by pressing A a couple of times, it
keeps canceling your save... grrrr. Also when you begin "Do
you want to load this game? Yes/No" And "no" is flashing...
why? WHY?!)

My next game'll probably be metroid. But I can't wait to
play Metroid Prime, Monkey Ball and Ikaruga.

Animal Forest has sadly never been released in europe :-( It
looks amazing though!

I'm also very much looking forward to the new Starfox, mario
Kart, Kirby Air Ride & F-Zero. All those games are going to
be great :-)

nintendo's games are so much better than the ps2 and xbox
games by a large margin. The games that I have that are
worth getting are: Zelda, Metroid, Resident Evil 1 and 0,
Eternal Darkness, Star Fox Adventures(not as good as Id
hoped but pretty solid nonetheless), Animal Crossing(though
it gets old after you have it for a while), Mario
Sunshine(collecting all the red coins, blue coins and 100
coins is ridiculously hard some times and like Surrounded
said often not fun), Smash Bros., Pikmin, Luigis Mansion,
Rogue Leader. I still need to give Splinter Cell a rent,
sounds very promising, also a lot of great stuff coming
soon: Metal Gear solid Twin Snakes(I know its only a remake
but I'll get it anyways), Wario World, Star Fox2, Soul
Calibur 2, Rogue Squadron 3, Metroid Prime2, Res Evil 4,
Viewtiful Joe, Killer7, Product Number3, Mario Kart, Too
Human, Pikmin2 etc. theres a lot im forgetting too. As long
as Nintendo continues to do their thing I'll remained
hooked.

I don't understand,Wind waker was heavily criticised BEFORE
it was released, mainly because people had only seen screen
shots. When it came out it was praised to the skies, check out
the reviews-10/10 9/10 in most of the respected
magazines. Also where did you hear that capcom had cancelled
several titles for Gc oddioblender? To the contrary, they have
pledged great support for it the next few years-the only
titles they have announced are still going ahead-Vjoe-killer
7,resi 4-pn3 is out in japan already and dead phoenix is
soon to follow, don't believe all the rumours you read. It's
generally people who don't realise that Sony are out to
achieve total control in the games market and are set on
wiping out the competition that easily dismiss Nintendo.Ps2
is a badly made machine(they break so easily, where I work we
constantly get ones back with broken drives and dead
fans)and is now the least powerfull on the market. It's
flooded with rushed titles, rehashes of psone games and
uninspired non risk taking titles and is murder to program
for which is why titles like ICO and REZ are so few and far
between on it.I really wouldn't worry as much about
Nintendo,your underestimating their potential.

I'm looking forwards to unity on the GC (nearest cousin is
probably Rez), it's the follow on project form the
visualisation software used at the warp winter rave :D

F-zero GC and the new Mario Kart will be fantastic and
Splinter Cell is better than any of the other verisons on
the GC too. I'm very glad I got one instead of a PS2 (the
only Ps2 game I really wanted was GTA Vice City and that is
better on the PC...)

lots of good opinions. i see i have sparked some interest.
and as a matter of fact, I will agree that Mario 3 is the
best mario ever.

and by the way, i read in Game Informer that Capcom have
cancelled several titles for the GC due to reports of losses
of 60 billion yen in 2002. Ouch.

And yes, Ikaruga rocks the cashbah. I can't wait for
F-Zero.

Oh, and by the way...

PLAY ZELDA NOW.

Surrounded, thanks for the good word. And yes, I agree,
there are some things in Eternal Darkness I could do
without, but it has a shitload of replay value, especially
for a horror game.

And I agree that Wind Waker's story is FANTASTIC! Have you
beaten it yet? I have, and the final battle was memorable.

"And yes, I agree, there are some things in Eternal
Darkness I could do without,
"

Well, i take back what i said earlier about the controls.
I'm starting to believe they made it feel a little bit
sluggish on purpose. To make the characters feel more like
real people, and thus to make the game scarier. If you'd be
able to slash down all the zombies easily like Link would be
able to do with his mastersword... this game wouldn't be
half as creepy as it is now. Because now every enemy you
encounter is pretty dangerous if you're not very careful.
I also love how in some levels the normal people can become
possesed by the bonethieves... and you don't know who's
still normal and who's evil... so you end up shooting
everyone that gets too close :-p Just like Maximillian in
the story! You can really feel like him going paranoid and
insane.

I've now arrived in the part of the game where there are
actually starting to appear zombies and monsters in the
house with Alex... and i was actually scared :-p Those
levels with alex have always been sort of a safe haven
inbetween the intense other levels, but now the monsters
have even penetrated here. It's all very well done...
brilliant music and soundeffects actually make me feel
uncomfortable and nervous. The story gets better and better
as the game unfolds... i'm loving it :-)

I still stand by what i said about the save-system though...
that is ridiculous and frustrating.
