is soulseek for sharing?

I understand when people on soulseek have the sharing just
for people on their list... I have done it that way too...
but if I ask somebody, please to let me browse his files
(being him from the MB) I just cannot understand why he
wouldnt let me browse his files

is there something I am missing?
is there any danger in sharing the files?
what reasons should one have to be on soulseek but not
leting people browse one´s files?

I myself find it stupid.
I had it myself in the way that only people on my list could
brose my files... yesterday, alnuit asked me if he could
browse my files... so I added him to my list, so that he
could... no big deal...

I know I have not many files to sahre... so I really dont
have a treasure to keep... but come on... soulseek is for
that... si a sahring place... or is it not?

I keep asking this known person of the MB who knows me, if
he would let me and he doesnt... I just dont understand

it's actually more illigal to share the files than it is to
download them...

I don't share, cuz I have an ftp and all these other
upload-systems like websites etc. running on a 512kb ADSL...

Thats 'cause you are a nice guy and the person that is not
sharing is not. *pthrrr* to him/her.

But seriously it could be that they are either selfish...or
maybe something practical like they are not on a fast
connect and cannot afford to lose bw that they could lose
for downloading (which I guess amounts to being selfish, but
what the heck.)

maybe he's having secret documents in his shared folder...?
accessable for people on his list only.

i reckon many people are sharing more than just mp3's.

I don't share with everyone simply because most people are
idiots.

I am not blaming him for sharing with people of his list
only... that is normal...

but if I am asking him to please let me browse... then I
dont understand the reason

javo, I know ... but thats not the point... I am sure that
if I ask you to allow me to browse your file you would let
me, as you already know me

I myself had it configurated to share only with people from
my list

well, if he has secret documents and you ask to browse them
- then i understand if he decline.

I mean, if someone PM's me and asks to have a look, I
usually check them out first, see how their files are, what
the connection is. If they've got a large ammount of stuff
(whether I want it or not) I always let them look. If
they're idiots but they've got something I want then ditto.
If they're obnoxious as fuck and have nothing then I ignore
them.

Maybe this guy just has a crappy connection and this is his
way of making sure his bandwith isn't destroyed.

WHO IS IT!

javo and phobia... you all gave me reasons to understand
that maybe he is not a prick as I thought for not sahring
his files...

so, I was wrong... but still I find it difficult to
understand why being in a sharing site and not share.

but how can he share them with people on his list then?

for example, i have all the ae remix contributions for
sharing, but only to certain crew-members. if you ask me to
browse my files i would say "no" cos its non-official stuff.
just an example but you may get the picture.

It could be that people have top secret files but the
majority of the time it's little hitlers on a power
trip...or they've got a slow connection and they are sharing
with their friends..

I've declined to add plenty of people to my lists before.
The way I see it, the more random people are on my list, the
less chance I have to let people grab stuff when I want them
to be able to. The more names on the list, the more people
can butt in and fill up slots.
Having said that, allowing someone from the mb wouldn't be
too much of a worry. After all you know them. Unless you
don't like them :D
