Was browsing thru the new Record Collector Price Guide (the one that weighs a ton!!)...
The Aphex entries were pretty limited but I was very surpised to see that the CD Single of Didge on R&S was priced the highest (85UKP..)...far more than the pacmans, HABs etc in there...(They had QChastic listed with a value of 40 quid )...
Well Worth checking out next time you're in a bookshop...

That book doesnt take into account the fact that people on ebay will pay ridiculously over the odds for some of those records..
Did you notice that loads of aphex stuff is in the late additions part of the guide for some reason?
In the one I saw at xmas one of the most valuable records was original of Mescalinum United remixes - 80 squids or something.. Sounds ludicrous to me.

thats quite suprising, but i have to be honest and say i've never seen the cd of didg (presumably its the original euro release on r&s?) and i'm not sure i've seen it on ebay.
if the people on ebay aren't collectors though who are??
good news about mescalinum utd seeing as i've got that.

Well, I have the Didgeridoo CD and it was not very hard to get - around $40 I guess. But you are right I have never seen it on eBay ever since.

that book rarely matches with anything i own - or have i been ripped off! :)
the best artists and most reliable are the ones which have been (moderately) researched for specific articles in record collector. i do occasionally pick up the odd copy, or failing that read it in whsmiths once a month

that book is the equivelant of getting some plummer or workman to come around to your house to fix something - you pay 80 quid to be told that everything you own is completely worthless!

hmm. i seriously fail to appreciate the entire premise behind collecting records - to me collecting music defeats the whole purpose for which it was intended in the first place - and that is to be listened, and not fawned over for how much it is worth and how rare it is; granted, if you have a copy which you actually listen to (and an additional one for collector's sake, say), that's perfectly fine in my book, but all these old geezers collecting classic jazz records which have never left their sleeve because they're so valuable seems a tad ridiculous to me.
