which do you own? i can name more.. later. or you can just browse my radio show playlists to see what i play most often (though it's not really indicative of my hip-hop interests, as i hate censoring things for airplay).

what do you think of the sakamoto album? strange you'd have a bit of an obscure piano album, at least obscure in america (where it's now out of print).
to make up for the 4 you have in the list here are 4 more formidable bangers:
Arab Strap - The Red Thread Black Star - Mos Def And Talib Kweli Are Black Star Cex - Oops, I Did It Again! D'Angelo - Voodoo

its pretty good. i like "the last emperor" off of it. i had to import it though. its a bit sparse for me, but a good album. i assume you have it, so it can't be that strange, as you apparently live in D.C.

sparse... well for those of you reading out conversation, it's a trio of piano, cello, and violin playing sakamoto (the pianist and composer)'s best film score works from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.. it's really beautiful stuff. not as orchestrated as some of the soundtracks, but in some cases not as barren (some scores are just piano solo). these pieces have craaazy melody and rhythm, truly masterful stuff anyone would like (unless all they listen to is hardcore bullshit).

well, i agree. once again, there are some really beautiful pieces on there. i actually bought it when i started playing piano because i had read that it contained good piano work. it was bitch to find though. i guess i'll say its very good, but not my favorite sakamoto work.

and i don't mean to imply that sparse is bad, just maybe not coming from sakamoto. i actually listen mainly to solo piano stuff, not alot of the "hardcore bullshit" that people on this board seem to favor.

You can download a free Dykehouse album at planet-µ. 5 tracks which are good considering they are free.
Speedy J is highly recommended. Get "A Shocking Hobby" if you like dark tunes. "Public Energy #1" is almost as good.
Get Amon Tobin if you dont have anything of his.
D'arcangelo's "Broken Toys Corner" is kickass funky braindance to tha max!
Anti-pop Consortium - Tragic Epilogue, my fav hiphop at the moment, these guys are just too cool.
If you want some chillout jazz, get Ki-Oku by Dj Krush and Toshinori Kondo. Very soothing trumpet with hip-hopish beats with ambient background noise.

funny, i think sit down is terrible in that form and great live. but enough about hail to the thief, there are plenty of threads devoted to it and it seems like every other thread somehow ends up on that topic.
