Just watching Sky News.....one of the big bombers has just
left this country heading for Iraq...

...others are starting their engines

Those are beasts of aircraft. Been around for 50 years and
they reckon they'll be used for another 50.

Bye bye Iraq...

Why don't you keep "Marlowe bitching powers" to SS/email,
eh? ;)

Jonesy, if it's US pilots flying them, they're probably
drunk/cocking about doing practical jokes on board/not
trained to use the nav. equipment/loaded with training bombs
by accident etc.
so they probably will.

the war but come on...

in which way is it more sick than that they would arrive to
iraq and kill kids..

offline pantalaimon from Winterfell (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-21 04:39 [#00607129]

its still sick... it doesnt have to be more sick to be sick
does it?

I guess its ok for Saddam to continue his killing of kids
then rather than us preventing him?

anti-war people are no more moral than pro-war people. You
either want Saddam to "deliberately" continue his killing of
thousands innocent people or we stop him, but in the process
kill some people "accidently".

either way innocent civilians will be killed, I hate the
fact that anti-war people think they are so much more moral
than other people who agreee with the war.

Pantalaimon: Yes, it annoys me too that anti-war people
consider their stance more moral.

"lets just wish they have to come back without reaching the

target due to technical problems"

lol, i must admit i'd rather just use ground troops rather
than using bombs and missiles. Maybe the targets are threats
to the ground troops though?

it's all very well us talking about it here but we dont know
anywhere near enough about whats going on to make
judgments... so i'm not going to :)

How is it sick? I'd rather the planes crash and lose those
trained killers than innocent Iraqi civilains.

It is nothing but racist to value American and British lives
more than Iraqis. The pilots have chosen their fate, the
Iraqis haven't so I'd sooner see them live.

When have we ever claimed to be more moral? We can't be
responsible for you pro-war people's feelings of guilt you
know so don't get all hyper-defensive.

offline pantalaimon from Winterfell (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-21 05:07 [#00607164]

"...sooner see them live"

to die another day by Saddam?

"You
either want Saddam to "deliberately" continue his killing of

thousands innocent people or we stop him, but in the process

kill some people "accidently"."

read this carefully and think again if your moral arguament
is any better than people who agree with the war.

anyway i'm off...

it just comes across that way, when we talk about saving

definately off now :)

it's surprising the amount of pro-war people who have
assumed that anyone anti-war is immediately pro-saddam...
the majority of people who are anti-war are not pro-saddam -
they merely believe that he can be removed from power
without having to resort to "shock and awe" tactics or by
blowing up citizens of that country -- I am against this
war, but mainly because it is George W Bush who has
instigated it. If it were truly a push for democracy I'd
welcome it with open arms, but I don't believe that to be
the case.

of course, not having a war and trying to defeat sadamm
without violence would be a more moral procedure.

that is obvious

Pro-war people have a perverted logic and they can't get
their little minds around the fact that you can be anti-war
AND anti-Saddam.

Ofcourse i am anti-saddam. And inspite of everything i will
be happy when i hear the news that he is no longer in
control.

But there are so many problems in the world, so many people
are dying in so many countries. It's strange that suddenly
freeing the people of iraq has become so important to the
american government.

I can't help but thinking that Bush mostly wants to attack
iraq as a sort of revenge for the terrorist-attacks on the
twin towers (even though iraq had nothing to do with that!).
If 9-11 never happened, i doubt this war would have ever
happened, even though the situation in iraq hasn't been
getting any worse since 9-11.... it's just that bush feels
like he needs to get even. So if he can't catch osama, he'll
take out saddam instead.

Saddam wouldn't last long if his "own" people, the west and
neighbouring countries are against him, support the
opposition(did not happen) and don't allow people of the
regime to travel to other countries(Aziz could visit the
pope without being arrested!!!)

How many people will die if Saddam *isn't* removed?

Time and time again we see how the anti-war lobby have a
complete lack of realistic alternatives.

"How many people will die if Saddam *isn't* removed?"

I don't know, do you? What if Iraq becomes a
muslim-fundamentalist country with oil(Kurds are already
linked to Al-Qaeda and their own terrorgroup PKK), what if a
war starts between Turkey and Kurdistan? what if....(etc,
etc...)
