Should I start with Five Leaves Left? Buying the Pink Moon album just seems... gauche, somehow. Like I'm going to listen to it in my Cabriolet.
I'm liking more non-electronic music these days--Pavement, Pixies, Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker, Joni Mitchell, some black metal.... just got Ungentle Exhumation by Cryptopsy, finally released on CD at long last!!!

Nick Drake songs are so unique. It is a shame he killed himself. His music is so beautiful. Every music collection should contain at least one Nick Drake CD.

It was OK, just the usual stuff -- interviews with Joe Boyd, Gabrielle Drake etc. I don't think there was anything new in there, other than Tow The Line, which is a pretty unremarkable track really (at least on first listen).

how can you be so sure Anus_Presley? i mean we know "what" killed him, but wether or not he wanted it that way we will never know...and we can speculate for ever...i must admit i go for the suicide version though...

touch me, for i bask in nick drake's reflected glory.
1. he went to the same college I did (Fitzwilliam, Camb), and lived in the same pokey, 1970s, chicken coop room i did in my first year. he hated it at fitzwilliam, it depressed the hell out of him... so of course he wrote loads of great stuff there.
2. a mate of mine (from above college) is his cousin.
so there you go.

i've read some facts and stories about drake..but you get some clues from the music itself..i like the story behind 'pink moon' - he just brought the recording to the label and just left it at the doorman's desk..i was hoping to read some interviews, but apperantly he only gave one short interview, and even that one doesn't say much..

but the more i listen to five leaves left the more i think it may become my favorite. it's a nice mixture of upbeat things and the slight depressing/negative vibe on pink moon
