tolstoyed if you're looking for similar artists, i'm a big fan of goodbye andf hello by tim buckley (his 2nd album before he became more freeform), and also donovan (probably go for a greatest hits here, his style changed over the years but it's all great).

btw, i know you're an expert on 80's..im checking out bands from that period now, and i'd really appreciate if you could name some more obscure ones who's music passed sort of unnoticed but was good..also some mainstream but less popular bands..but there's a big chance i know these later ones already :)

i really like the album 'pink moon', but i don't like his other releases all that much. they're nice, but to me they sound too similar to lots of other folk music to be anything special.
