I like Blur

I actually really quite like the band Blur, and have done
for several years.

I fear I may have just alienated myself from many members of
this board.

yes i like their song where they go woo-hoo and lots of
distorted guitars

and also the song with the video in which everything is
white. it's called 'the ....' can't remember titles very
well......

....not that keen on Song 2 though.

I'll tell you who else I really like: Suede! They're
quality. Dog Man Star is a classic!

Netlon: I think your talking about The Universal.

let me guess... you're gonna say you are more than alittle
partial to a drop of Ash and Travis too...

am i right ? :)

like Menswear too.

Nah, Travis and Ash are dull. There's nothing intrinsically
wrong with their music, it just doesn't really do anything
for me.

I'd describe Travis as "nice" and Ash as "alright".

Shed 7 though, now you're talking. In my opinion Shed 7 are
by far the most groundbreaking, envelope-pushing and
superior band to have come out of England since the Smiths.

Its the Britplop era/stuff I hate. They even had a show
called Britpop Now on once. I despise the way the NME big-up
all these shit bands then dump them a few years later. They
rip the piss out of these people but they gave them loads of
column-inches at the time and covershots.

you have to admit

THE SMITHS
' paint a vulgar picture '

is a spot-on assessment of the indie media scene

' re-issue , repackage, slip them into different sleeves...
buy both and feel decieved...'
I know, stevey boy, i know ! *sob* :)

I'm gonna move to Camden and start a indie bland. Anyone up
for it? We can adopt chirpy mockney accents, grow our hair
over our ears, get some vintage Adidas trackie tops and a
few pairs of Gazelles and lose a few stone. I reckon there's
a market for this shite; mid-20s tossers on a nostalgia
trip. They've had their first kid and are pining for the
beer-fuelled days of 94/95.

Welcome aboard. Are you anorexic? Have you got your own

anorexic- no but I'm starting taking smack for a
socilogical/artistic experiment into my own pseudo-psyche
so I'll soon lose a few pounds !

backpack thing- thats sewn up baby ! Zippy from Rainbow OK
for ya ? If not, Zippy with a Nick Griffin 'I've been gagged
.. for telling the truth' gag ..

I think we need three new members and a name now.... lets DO
it !

Jonesy....

Can I join too?

I have a knack of feigning a penchant for 60s guitar bands
such as the Byrds. I like lager and I have no discernible
musical talent. I look like a woman, but have stubble, and
I wear really skinny t-shirts and have a floppy fringe.

You two are more than welcome. I'm thinking maybe we should
go for a bit of a heavier sound and go for the Strokes/Hives
thang. We'll get in the NME then for sure. We can call
ourselves the (it has to be the something at the moment, its
so now) Shovels.

an avent-garde post-postmodern post-ironic name would be a ,
like , really kind of ... er great start guys...

BILGE ...

yeah I dig it
and i vouch for manicminer because he's obviously
sympathetic to the disenfranchised mining community of the
northeast and the fact they're all manic because of cheaply
available drugs on the Tyneside docks.
thats social consciousness man. safe.

I reckon we should get our singles remixed by the following;
Lionrock, Chemical Bros, Monkey Mafia and other big beat
artisits.

deep man , like , our audience would really associate with
it :)

I'm starting to get really excited about this band now. I
can sing a little bit and I know how to play "Ziggy
Stardust" on guitar, so there's a start.

And yes, Smokehammer, my social consciousness is indeed from
where I derive my name. In fact, I was thinking that I
could come on stage in a miner's outfit, with visible
symptoms of manic depression (onstage fits of rage, followed
by periods of extreme happiness).

The whole thing excites me greatly.

I'm not sure about emulating the Strokes, as it inevitable
that NME will ditch them pretty soon - they've been "in
vogue" for a while now. We should take a chance and attempt
to anticipate the next big trend in indie. I think that
camp behaviour will make a comeback. I can see it now - a
manically depressed miner in lipstick.

we can do sound tests at cool sounding studios like

'the pressure-cooker'
'the spin-dryer'
and
'the five legged walnut loaf'

and set up our own label
'C_rave' post-ironic, post-post-ironic even.
Post-chemical-generation. post-fucking-post guys ! (know
what i mean?)

And how about a spell in rehab? I've always fancied that.

And some of the obligatory rifts within the band.

And, seeing as we have a female member, some unconfirmed
rumours of relationships between bandmembers.

I think our outfits will be an essential component to
defining the zeitgeist and future musical landscape. Image
is everything. I think we should dress as al Qaida fighters
in UN berets.

Yes. And we should wear makeup with the terrorist gear,
just to look ironic.

And in an interview with a Radio 1 journalist, one of us
could carve a phrase into our arm - just to prove our
authenticity.

Yeah I agree. You're both pretentious cunts and are musical
reactionaries. I'm going to start a solo career with some
artisits from Mali. Not I'm not. Yes I am. Oh yeah, I
shagged your girlfriends.

Fuck off. If you do that I'll either:

a) kill myself
b) disappear
c) shag your girlfriend
d) begin my own solo career and sell more records than you,
just out of spite
e) claim that i was the creative force behind the band
anyway
f) replace you with a 17 year old nobody from Poole
