it was a small group of creators. contrapoints being one of them. now it's just leftists essayists in general. in this thread i used it for any political video creator contra has been under fire a bit, because people think she might be too much of a lib (meaning: not left). for instance they think that from the video 'envy'. i kinda agree. she still has good essays, though. ('incels' is my fav!) i watch maybe too much of this stuff. at periods. the list here was just recent stuff i watched and wanted to share last thing i can share and wanted to share, though maybe in the thread about the beef is |

when it started the accompanying story was that youtube had also these right wingers, all these talking heads around gamer gate, which lead to Trump and the alt-right and these youtubers were deprogramming lost youth i guess i now use the term half ironic. like: it's just interesting video essays. i guess more so if it's up your political ally some top notch i'd recommend are Shaun: Dropping the Bomb, Harry Potter and The Bell Curve. and Folding Ideas: In Search of Flat Earth and Line Goes Up (this last one reached far beyond the regular crowd) |

Tony D: Finished up Midnight Mass last night with the wife, on your rec. Great pick! Really solid writing all around. Not religious here personally, but I appreciated that it gave a fair handed look at the christians on that island--- without having a preachy viewpoint of it's own. Everyone was written pretty realistically. I loved the way the characters quoted scripture to suit their own agenda at any given point. Was definitely a Stephen King type jam, even if he wasn't involved. He's always been my favorite author. Thanks for the pick! If you know anything else of that calibur in the last few years I'll add it to the queue and take another 3 years to get around to it. |

Yeah one of my favourite series ever, right up there with True Detective S1. One of the great pleasures if you watch it again is to check out the priest's monologues, and dialogues with Riley, and hear what he's revealing and not revealing and his double meanings. merman: hssst! spoilers |
