 | syro had all those little documentation details, the synths and where the album's money goes. there's machinery for
releasing an album, and it's constructed just like anything
else. process engineering. warp handles a lot of it, but
richard still has to manage the interface between himself
and warp. i am going to go out on a limb and say a vacuum
tube went in that interface a few years back and he said "oh
i'll fix that next tuesday" and five years later he still
hasn't finished popping balloons on his yamaha disckraver.
other things in it broke, and the prospect of fixing it
proved increasingly daunting. then the external noise broke
through (thanks watmm) and he fixed the thing. now that it
works he is making use of it.

 | the media player is on a glut of soundcloud tracks i downloaded. gockenspiel TEAC sounds exactly like me, drunk,
on a yamaha dx-200 until you get to the parts that sound
like orbital's album with all the tracks named lush. yes!
mash the reverse button adamantly! i am guessing this is not
 the same TEAC on cheetah.

 | love best how high the noise floor is these days internet things music things releases things 2 second posting
headline things and next day bulk herd move on forget

nothing better than getting to process and build off new
shared tunes still in relative isoaltion and solitude
outside sharing with m8s this board.

 | i did get to mess with a system 700 at synthfest AHNE and that was nice. and an oberheim matrix. the guy who owned it
knew the answers to all my annoying questions and i thought
it sounded great but had a fantastically annoying interface.
i could see the gas neon display refreshing lazily. i bet
that thing is annoying as shit to maintain

 | sometimes the old skool cpu limitations can be interesting. with the dx200 it felt like they were right at the limit of
what they could do with the thing's microprocessor and midi
thru would reliably cause it to lag in certain contexts.
pencil it in: middle of the track, flood the dx200 with
datas; let it take a shit. one out of three times something
interesting happens and that's the take you're waiting for.
the limitations of the xpander or matrix or whatever did not
seem as charming, even if it had reasonably powerful patch
programming matriwidgetry. i'd need a weekend with it to be
sure about this; i'd need to carry it up some stairs to see
if it's heavy. oh, wow, that bass is heavy. i can feel my
 lumbars meandering

 | I'm wondering if I may be over focusing a bit, but apart from on the two short pieces and the cirklon1 track, am I
the only one hearing background hiss?

I was out and about and had some in ear phones on
(sennheiser momentum m2) the other day and could really
notice it. Now of course I'm obsessing.

Comes with the gear, and recording I guess, but on the first
track I can't help but over focus on it.

No big deal, but am I going nuts?

 | yes i can hear the hiss, i assume either its the equipment being used or was recorded to a reel or something, it really
reminds me of a analord era track, i think it might be from
 that time

 | Ah, cheers, I'm not going potty then. Cirklon 3 is the one I meant that is 'hissless'.

Great Ep. Really what the doctor ordered. Though like with
Syro if I blast it for long periods of time on good
headphones my ears hurt a bit.

 | I just had a first listen, and i instantly do not like it apart for cheetah2 ms800, which is a nice ambient track.

The rest sounds like same old analog bass and beats without
any adventurous pattern. Im surprised by the lack of
 surprises.

Syro still makes me smile as i hear twists & unforseen
switches in beats, sounds & melodies.

Cheetah seems to merely be a marketing tool. No likey
 here.........

 | melodies & rythms that give me goosebumps. an artist who dares foreign territories.
musicians who take risks and progress.

Don't care all THAT much for sound quality.

Even though I hail Aphex Twin for his works, I shall not
 take him for granted.

I dont like this cheetah EP.
