Likewise, I'd love something more in tune with his early 90s
self. I'll probably buy this regardless of what it's like
though lawl

It's acoustic so no syro bonkers

It is out there in the wild in flac. Do a search. It is like
the piano bits off drukqs and almost hip hoppy beats like
one of the ventolin remixes. sounds good but it is more
avantgarde electro acoustic tracks as the title would
suggest.

Halfway through listening now. Few pretty pointless bits on
there, and there's been nothing groundbreaking so far. Some
nice little grooves in there, but pretty underwhelming
overall

Amazing unique release, prefer some tracks as suggested on
artwork at 45rpm, DISKPREPT4 current fave.

after a fast first listening,
i found the long tracks pretty nice and interesting,
just like a naked aphex where he cant do his trickery in
acoustic instruments, but just show his raw compositive
skills...

most of the short bits are just filler to me,
just experiments to say 'look what can it be done thru a
computer that cant be done in real playing..
but then its just an ep and its great to have some extra
beats

offline chops808 on 2015-01-22 12:32 [#02482691]

Those short beats are obviously breaks waiting to be sampled
off VINYL .

Just about to pinch one myself for a track :)

lots of laughs in there, i can see myself listening to this
every once in a while when i am in an odd kind of mood, as
with the ventolin tracks. the child babble in diskprept1
later amazingly sounds as if it came from the very room
youre sitting in or the next one if you will. in that way it
feels like aphex is messing around right next to you. feels
kinda privy overall. skipped the ( s l o ) barn thing didnt
slow me doan along with it, maybe it is its key thats not
making me want to settle in it.
last two are proper tracks again and pretty solid to me,
make me want to listen to a full stretch album of this,
with a couple of catchy hooks in it like an rdj album
e.g....
yes and this one here again for the odd and fun enjoyment,
its tracks like this that may catch you by surprise on
shuffle and you end up not being able to stop to play the
whole thing or its most fun moments, its prankster pop

obtaining this badly. And I have to say, I fucking LIKE IT.

ive always liked the funki-downtempo beats/tunes that aphex
popped here and there in his discography: bbdynchrd, some
ventolins, analords etc

simple and groovie

its nice to have a new bunch in an ep

more like exploring ambiances that not trying to make an
insanely complex everywhere mindblowin tune everytime

DISKPREPT!!!!!

Im listening too this right this moment, and i thought my
kids had just woken up. Got spooked for a minute. lol

I love the overall sound, and more so the delicate assembly
of little touches and different aphextruments put together.

brilliant!

About 10 years ago I berated the Warp Press Release monkey
for their abuse of the English language, the reward for
which was to be struck off the Warp mailing list. Now we
find Aphex, according to the PR, has released the music that
he "eluded to in interviews" .... The music he
avoided to (?) in interviews?

It's pretty hot now to swap similar sounding words around,
with a complete different meaning to confuse people. Unless
you're in the know of course, which means you're cool, and
the text is directed directly, or directly directed at you.

You see, I did something new too, because eluding to things
in loudly is a bit last minute.

Let me just add; Fuck. I have listened to this EP all day
and it is soaking in like rain into woodland. I real REALLY
like it. What bothers me is if this wasn't AFX would I give
it a chance? And the answer is "of course not, you bummer".
But the fact is, it IS Aphex, and all the odd history we
share.

You can't pull it apart, it is what it is. I really enjoy
listening to it.

started by listening at 45rpm and it’s on repeat at that
speed.

love the way it was recorded, love hearing the dogs and kids
in the background (get that cough looked at tho mate! do i
hear you spit afterward??). i think that piano is his best
friend in the world. diskhats are funky as fuck. it’s weird,
there’s literally never been anything like this kind of
music before and it’s catchy as hell to my ears from start
to finish. along with the first disc of syro, this is my all
time favorite stuff of his. references, expands on and
trumps saw ii, drukqs, icbyd and all the old classics (which
are still great). artwork also perfect.

can’t believe the reaction of the press so far. time will
tell, surprised people don’t hear the connection, esp to
metz, which was the most popular track last time right? that
thing that connects his music together underneath genre and
gear… it’s here. really feel he put his whole self into
this, the raw emotion is tangible. perfect release

A lot of reviews are calling some of the tracks hip hop
instrumentals
, which baffles me. That Guardian bloke
even saying it was the sort of stuff "black men" release
cheaply, and not seriously, and that "white men" were doing
the same but for a higher price(?) and disguising it as
something new?

The EP's good, but I'm too depressed right now for repeated
listens. I think it's all that (beautiful) space/emptiness.

in diskprept1, you can hear, like... oh, he's doing that
aphex thing. like at 2:17... damn, where have i heard that
one before? maybe nowhere, exactly. he's just an aphex doing
his aphex things, except it's a bunch of wooden robot gongs
instead of uberham matrix whatevers. makes me want to hear
vibert do a wagon christ album with this setup

magness did it. Anyways I like 2 or 3 tunes, just don't
think it's anything remotely fresh sounding. Though since
the release of Syro I don't think Ritcherd really has any
magic left in 'im

Good work Richard

Thank you

Next time let me know the soulseek release date in advance

The best parts are where the piano sounds like a synthesizer
going through multiple FX & where the drums are totally
funky

Fuck the press and the h8rs
