Plaid - Reachy Prints

Oh my, a thread about music. It obviously won't be as good
as the Ask 010101 one.

Regardless, I am pleasantly surprised by this album.
Download it, listen to it and tell me what you think.

It's still on pre order...did it leak?

Guessing it leaked already. I'm going to wait to listen to
it, but I'm guessing if you liked Plaid's Midnight Snacks, then
Reachy Prints will probably be in a similar vein.

Hawkmoth and Wallet are already more interesting than
Scintilli for me. Also, Liverpool Street closes out the
album and besides Strata #3 that is one of the best tracks
they have done in awhile.

Giving it a few listens today. It's rather nice, though
'Matin Lunaire' does my head in a bit. Very pretty,
melancholic yet full of that bouncy hopeful vibe they manage
so well.

two weeks. Looking forward

Plaid manages to outdo Boards of Canada at their own game
with those chords that come in at about 4:27 in the link
above.

all my respect for plaid, they are amazing producers,
but ive always got problems to get into their trademark
melodies...
that, and they always trying to make the 'perfect tune' in a
very classical way. like having some mindblowing sound and
experimental beats but not taking them beyond, but thats
just a matter of taste, i guess...

like that new hawkmouth tune, the best beats to me being the
last 20 seconds, thats something shinny and interesting, all
what before that its like ok ive heard it thousands of time
before

I understand what you mean, melack. I do like this album
though. It's pretty dark and shiny (?).

i must say i also liked this album at my first listenings,
beyond my usual problems with plaid
(also they repeating the loop too much)
maybe amongst my favourite plaids at first listenings,
then i listened to those midnight snacks on soundcloud
and they were nice too
then 'the city' tune automatically played and i was
mindblowed,
what a beautiful tune i hadnt heard... (from the kinkreet
anime soundtrack)

I like plaid a lot, but honestly. the last couple of albums
have been... very boring. Seems like they keep remaking the
same album but slightly different. Always the same bell
sounds. same beats. Same type of melodies.

Each album only has like 2 good tracks, with the rest being
just filler material.

So far the only tracks that seem to stick are Tether and
Liverpool st

You don't seem to "like Plaid a lot".

For me it's the other way around. i loved the first one and
then sort of went of them. Saw them as a bit soft. But i
really have made peace with their work on this album.

And i didn't like any of them, so how come i love this one
so much? Maybe i finally needed a dose of typical Plaid?
I've listened back to old stuff and is still feel this new
one is a bit special. I'm playing it a lot though and
worried it will quickly wear off. I dunno.

i will give it a listen as i do any new ae or sp albums at
least once. i won't hold my breath. but seriously it's all
been done a million times. this "genre" died yrs ago. it's
sad really. a bunch of 40 somethings* trying to re-imagine
their own sound. i hope i'm wrong but i've been let down so
many times before with the warp stalwarts and there's so
much more music out there i can and will listen to and
enjoy.

*yes i'm one of those, fuck off.

Listened to this multiple times now, First I thought this
was an even better album than tomorrow's harvest but after
hearing it for the third/fourth time it started to bore
me..will see them live next Sunday and I'm pretty sure I'll
like their show :-)

acoustic strumming.

which I enjoy.

I've never bothered with their soundtracks, are they good?

Enjoyed this and Scintilli. Great comebacks after the Spokes
and Greedy Baby albums which I thought were a bit shite

The one evolume mentions is worth a spin. This City
and Eyen are classic Plaid.
