Just remember that the guys on XLT giving you advice on your
music mysteriously don't have any money - strange that.

we're trying to prevent it from becoming "professional art"
by ensuring our idols remain broke

Put all the posts into a database, set your server clock to
ten years ago, and then have the posts "post" in realtime
-10 years to recreate the old Xltronic. Imagine - all the
best of IDM - again!

purification-catharctic experience, revive the agony of the
board and idm...

Some figures...

Initial cost for setting up hardware (colocation):
$200

Initical cost for setting up software
(cms+extensions+work):
$300 (estimated)

Monthly fee (colocation): $100

So, basically I need more than 100 premium members
(subscribers) just to get "even". Hopefully the new site
will offer attractive features for premium members.

So far I've received $120 USD since Newsletter #001. Thank
you! It will get us started...

Once the initial costs are settled we'll focus on getting
things rolling. OK, will do some Xltronic site work now.

Since I'm actually a control freak, I can't wait to have
everything in place so I could organize:
+ the crew (mods, other delegations)
+ subscribers
+ radioshows
+ downloads
+ messageboard
+ newsflow
+ contests

Will do our best to migrate the old stuff, including
members/messages/stats.

Just having a page with old the Vibes listed would be great,
right? etc etc

See you...

I think the problem is in the amount of active members.
There's always going to be a percentage willing to donate.
Like you say, the site requires a lot of paying members to
sustain itself financially.

Phobs, what are your ideas on attracting more members?

And besides the financial side there's also the human side.
How much time are you actually willing to invest in this
site?
