What's the single best track you've bought. this
year?

Please post a link where the rest of us can hear it (without
having to register/pay to listen).

For me, it'd be Glass Teeth's Flesh Palace.

cheez ceri you're hard into the rapegaze all of a sudden!

This Kangding Ray EP is real good. Has more ass in
its pants than he usually manages.

Fleetmouse: I agree Rapegaze is the best name for it. Drag
second and Witch House third (it's more like goth crunk and
whilst I get the 'Witch' connection, there's nothing
house-like about it).

I've been into it for a while. I've just not seen it
discussed here much, so have mentioned it a few times
recently (although its appearance in this thread is merely
coeincidental). I thought it'd appeal to people here more
than Dubstep, but it's surprisingly low key at XLT.

The track you linked is good, it makes me imagine
Sleeparchive experimenting with drone.

Melack; thank you for fixing my fuct link.

VLR; if I'm into the rapegaze at the 'mo, you must be really
into Italo, eh? :)

Darius, I am unemployed. When I buy music, it means selling
something else. Whilst I buy less as a result, that still
makes music I've bought a different category to music I've
not. It's a different criteria to music you 'find
interesting' or whatever. It means it's music you like
enough (and/or that is too obscure/hard to find on
torrents/copy from friends) that you spend money on it. It's
not about being rich, or how much you buy.

I listened to it. Not my cup of tea, sorry. I liked one of
the things in the "people who bought this also liked"
section, however.

I assumed Witch House was a punning nod to Lovecraft.

You're right, that track is very sleeparchivey, probably why
I like it.

You're supposed to maintain publicly that you do in hopes
that other people will be shamed into paying for them.

bangs like it was 2006 again.

Peverelist - Salt Water
and Pearson Sound - Untitled
and xhronik - man in the boot

1:12 in that Glass Teeth video fuckin cracked me up. Other
than that the listen was pretty underwhelming mainly due to
the sampling being intolerably shyte.

Tis nothing new, but the best track I've bought this
year would have to either be Snifter's Acid or Vulcan
Venture off Ceephax's Volume Two Rephlex release

Fuck, listening again it's hard to pick a favourite off that
LP. Volume One didn't particularly do much for me though

If you think the sample quality is bad in that, you should
check out Gucci Hucci, pretty much all her stuff has the
worst sound quality I've ever heard. Initially the poor
sound quality in a lot of witch house annoyed me, because it
sounded like poor production, rather than intentional
distortion. I've come to accept it as part of the 'scene'
though.

I've never really been mad into ceephax, but that is a cut
above his usual work IMO. The opening an closing ones (the
least acidy ones) are really good.

offline Haft from Tublin (Ireland) on 2012-08-29 11:08 [#02440210]
Points: 884 Status: Lurker

I concur on the Ceephax front, he's a nichey artist that's
nice when you want some acid, but not a Go-Toer in my books.
Oh and on that Flesh Palace tune, by dodgy sampling I mean
the actual samples used and the 'placement' of them in the
track are what fellate hard, rather than the actual sound
quality. Crushed and distorted speech samples generally
speaking add to the magic with more ambient or soundscapey
stuff
