So far, this promo sounds like the real deal. The quality
is kind of shit and raw and abrasive, and the transitions
are weird... but it is certainly the real deal.

2 tracks in and this totally slays Queersauce.

Which means the actual release is going to be SO much more
ace.

45 minutes in i'm exhausted but still ejaculating.

i dunno, last time i was in the exact same situation (fanboi
mode, headphones, late night) was when the last tool album
leaked, and it was an utter disappointment on first listen.
THIS ON THE OTHER HAND.

Friends....

Dearest Friends.... I've been guilty of miserably trying to
fake Autechre in the past. I've fooled some of you and I
have angered many more. For that, I am sorry. But, when it
comes down to it, I could never replicate this. It's just
too sublime, too lush, or whatever anyone else has said that
has recently angered me these past couple weeks in my
ignorance of not getting what I want, my being impatient.
I'm hearing this leak now and I am so happy that I have
already planned to purchase this. Oversteps may just be the
best, newest, freshest, most fucked up Autechre album I have
heard in over 7 years. Why is this such a simple record and
yet so fucking complex?!? With this, they totally rewrote
the script as *I* knew it, yet being true to form...
Oversteps makes it sound like I've been listening to their
past catalog through a hologram or foggy veil. Its
everything we've come to expect and then more... In terms of
leaving me second guessing, I havent felt this way since
Confield came out, yet I feel like this is the record I was
supposed to be always waiting to hear . Wow.

I'm not angry. I'm not let down. I have nothing to say
except I need to learn to shut the fuck up. This is a TOTAL
game changer and yet a return to form, and yet it still
makes me feel weird as I sit here and listen. This isnt even
ambient music. This so much more. I am sorrry, but this is
SO good it even makes Quaristice make sense. They needed to
release Quaristice to get to this. I understand now.

It had to happen this way.

I understand now. I am humbled. And I am sorry for being a
dick on these boards.

PS - Who ever said this reminds them of Amber or Chiastic
Slide was so wrong and yet so right, it confuses the hell
out of me.

This album is literally a aural lobotomy.

i cut it up into the track list..

p2tph8 is nice.

tho i still think its a really strange direction for them.

strange as opposed to the normalcy that was confield? ;p

yeah i get what you're saying though... not a direction I
would have expected after their last two records...

and yet so fresh and yet so familiar.

Oversteps = Lp6

offline cx from Norway on 2010-02-06 23:40 [#02365080]
Points: 4537 Status: Regular

the focus is completely on the melodies and synths.. mostly
they have made weird beats and new innovative perc sounds,
even since the 90s..

while confield, draft untilted etc sound different, its
still not synth stuff.

offline Wolfslice from Bay Area, CA (United States) on 2010-02-06 23:43 [#02365081]
Points: 4884 Status: Regular

all the percussion is just swimming in the synths here (with
a few expections). It all works together beautifully

This is seriously a masterpiece. The track lengths are so
weird too...

The other thing is, this is more like one big track than an
album of different songs.

So fucking good.

yeah it's definitely a more cohesive "album" for sure.

I'm getting that same urge i usually get with new ae, to go
back and listen to their last album with this new
perspective.

And theres gonna be more autechre in 2010. I wonder if it
will be completely different?

The best is, I think hanal or someone jokingly mentioned
banjo or guitar being in this and they were totally serious

its basically altbzzz the album. thats a good way to put it.
