Make me a mod. I want to delete elusive's piracy threads
where he takes food out of the mouths of hungry musicians by
posting links to lossless rips.

Blogga please, he was the best character in the whole
series. Bold and gallant, much like myself.

I'm on your side. Music should be purchased whenever
possible. Lack of money isn't an excuse to download
"illegal" music, either. If I like the music, I buy the real
thing - it's that simple. I'm talking about (can I say
"talking" on a message board?) the old releases which have
become near impossible to find. Should all that good music
be lost? What about all the people here who post mixes which
include entire tracks? The zilty mixes have been responsible
for 90% of the music I've discovered and subsequently
purchased in the past few years. So, cheers to Phobs for
keeping this place going. If anything, he's helped keep my
interest in electronic music alive. Without you guys, I'm
lost as far as knowing people who still give a shit about
good music. Please know that I hold you in very high
regard.

and for a honorable mentiont: the days of fun listening to
autechres itunes playlist. phobs deserves way more credit
than the v2 pissing contest generates.

I think it's ok to share music. I hate the idea of albums
being ripped before their release date though.

Without illegal downloads I never would have heard and
subsequently purchased any of this music at all. I would
have never gone to any of the tours, never bought my two
autechre t-shirts, never found this board and the wonderful
folks that dwell here.

The artists are aware of this, and thus the more enlightened
ones don't take much issue with sharing music digitally, in
fact some encourage it (nine inch nails comes to mind).

I take a bit of a different stance with the piracy of PC
games though.

I feel much worse pirating games, because once I've
downloaded and played it, I'm not at all inclined to go out
and pay for it to support the developers (given the price,
replayability and resale value of computer games these
days). Since game reviews are far more trustworthy than
music reviews, I tend to thoroughly research a game and
purchase it rather than pirating it.

Pay your conscience, but don't force yourself to shell out
for something like Smojphace just because it has one good
track.
