So, some of you may remember me posting this last
month. The project is now finished and is being presented as
a 75-minute 12-track album for you to buy. There's two
options:

£4/$8 128kbps download from Soundclick (meaning the sound
quality isn't good and you'll have to set up your own
account, etc. etc. You also won't get the physical artwork
but a link to two jpg images on Monday)

OR

£5 + P&P CD (obviously lossless) ordered thru Paypal.
Email me with your order and address and I can send
you a payment request thru Paypal. P&P = £2 to UK, £3 to
EU, I guess £4 to anywhere else.

Album preview will be up on my MySpace soon.

Cheers!
Future Image

well, i got my copy today..

need some time with it, but so far i like it a lot, beats
are great and he's got a lot of good ideas.
its more beat oriented and not as melody oriented.
lots of cool clicks and other nice percussion.
titane and fultroi come to mind as standout tracks currently
for me, although i havent heard it all yet.

promote the material and get reviews, radio play, etc.?

Just out of interest... :-)

surely whoring it out is not the main goal for releasing an
album?

it's ok to try and get some promotion, but albums that are a
bit more underground are better anyway

too many people making music to worry about that stuff,
breaking through is almost impossible,

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2008-04-13 13:17 [#02194016]
Points: 5079 Status: Lurker | Followup to cx: #02194012

Well, it's not really 'whoring it out', it's just making
people aware that it exists. If you've put a lot of effort
into something and want to share it with more people than
friends and family, getting out on the public domain can
only help. Momentum can gather from word of mouth, I guess,
but radio play and doing gigs and all that stuff can only be
a good thing if you've got something you believe in sitting
there waiting for ears. I'm damn glad the bands I like got
some promotion, otherwise I might never have heard about
them. Obviously it doesn't change the quality of the music
at all and isn't always necessary; it's just an issue of
awareness.

"breaking through is almost impossible, "

thats a very fatalistic outlook and mostly self fulfilling
prophecy, if you think that you will never break through in
any facet

i will be purchasing this soon futureimage!

thats really sad. seriously i think its just sad. pach
arcel. this is so pretentious and desperate in its trial to
resemble the ae feeling that it even outscored tycho and his
copy machine. music is all about being creative, wannabism
is all about being like others.
im suprised people actually pay for this knowing its been
done just to "sound like something else" instead of being
invented to carry out its own idea.
this approach brought britney and alikes to the world, and
it will kill music eventually. its all what carsten nicolai
is against.

i mean, man, you would at least give it different title for
fucks sake.

sorry I just lolled.

Er... PACh ArcEL was the name of this project/album the
start so there's no reason to change the name...

Have you listened to the preview? I purposely moved away
from the Ae feel... or at least tried to. I don't wannabe
Autechre, or anyone else. I just wanna create my own
stuff...

Hahah I'm not sure how you can compare this to Britney. That
just made me rofl.

offline K300i from United Kingdom on 2008-04-16 13:43 [#02195182]
Points: 670 Status: Regular

see ? thats because i didnt compared yourself but the idea
that creates britney-like pop stars and albums like yours.
but you rofled, so what can i say when speaking to someone
who purposely names a "project" using bits and bobs from
autechre titles and rofls on the internet.
rofl away then mister.
oh, in case you cant read. naming a track pach arcel = not
creating your own stuff. so it seems to me what you want and
what you do are two different things.

WTF? How is PACh ArcEL not my own name? I've never seen
anyone else use that name bar myself...

Also all of the titles (including PACh ArcEL) are
PDA-transcriber generated (as in scribble the original text
in, usually a description of the song and see what random
stuff it comes out with).

either youre trying to pretend you dont know or youre blind.
or you simply dont understand, which proves my point.

parchelic triangle, arch carrier, pen express, your name is
so close to overall sound of these ae gems its more like
youve been trying to figure out something similar but not
too close and you failed because when i saw that the first
thing that came to my mind was "oh gee, another tycho".
seriously.

i dont want to bash your project, i wish you the best etc
(although you probably think different by now) sell it, earn
what you deserve but personally, i think its a cheap rip
off. period. especially when you put quaristice in your
location. looks close to fanboism. but you know what they
say - some are collecting antiques, some dig up old mines.

first you try to state that my opinion should be followed up
by my ow work, which is very stupid, and now youre trying to
make it into a joke and prove futureimage right in his
attempts to copy something well known.

so, being influenced = lets make track that sound like ae.
brilliant.

man oh man.

Again I am sorry for my baseless and 'stupid' request that
you should contribute something of your own to reinforce
your criticism. It was wrong and for that I am in your debt.
Unfortunately the only way that art evolves is by influence.

surely it does. i concur. but not like that (see the
thread). people being influenced have two ways. either they
become wannabes, or they are influenced and merge the
influence with something of prime value. thats not the case
here.

and again, i wont be supporting my criticism with my own
works, forstly, i have shown my own works here already,
secondly, i wont do that because its a stupid idea. i dont
need to reinforce my criticism, since its my priviledge to
criticise something being made public for people to express
their own opinion.

i think the point is, that no matter how you create
something, the end result is what's important. The
substance, what you're actually listening to. And of course
everything else (concepts, ideas, methods) is interesting
and has its own importance.

OBVIOUSLY, KC300i, your point isn't that enlightening,
seeing as how it's pretty clear who Futurimage's (and alot
of others here) influences are.

I don't see the point in your attempt to try and SHOW
futureimage the error in his ways.

Let him do his thing, however fanboy/wannabe/original it is.
The proof is in the pudding.

by the way futureimage, to your music, it's ehhhh, ok. You
could definietly use some different directions.

haha I never thought of them, mind they aren't really my
fave Ae songs. If I wanted to copy ae, I would've called the
album LLC ok?

"Pach Arcel" came from "Packshot balance":

PDA File:
Packshoi Bai anc E L
PAlk5HOI BAi Anc E L
PAlh5hir BAi ArcEL
PACh5hir BAiAnEl

^proof enough?

well, i dont need no proof. clearly you didnt understand
what is aid, but pulsecock might be righ in his way. its not
so much about trying to show him an error in his way, its
more of a disbelief - i actually thought the time of people
doing this kind of stuff is over. it seems its not.
and so i will go into shadows.

clark kept getting accused of being derivative, so he put
out turning dragon which is way different and people find
other reasons to bitch.

i dunno when i first started all my stuff sounded like front
line assemble and skinny puppy, cause thats what i liked and
i learned by trying to duplicate what they were doing. as
you get better and more comfortable with making music you
start to develop your own sound and identity. you will also
want to incorporate styles and ideas that people listening
to the style arent thinking about (like me right now with
late 80s, early 90s industrial, techno, ebm, new beat etc.)
and that will help keep your sound fresh and distinctive.

fi im not saying you are derivative i like your stuff. but
if you get that feedback from more people then those are
just some pearls that i can pass along from one musician to
another.

k300i: maybe you should just be more constructive
