brilliantly beautiful in its execution of realism

What's up with the beauty of its execution of realism? Is it
because the camera shakes a little sometimes?

Apocalypto - 6/10 very good but the modernised language in
the subtitles pulled me out of it a couple of times.
The Fog - 7/10
Big Trouble in Little China - 6/10 John Carpenter double
bill of greatness
The Fountain - 8/10 or 5/10 Im not too sure. the first film
ive seen in ages where people walked out halfway through but
also the first film ive ever seen where not a single person
stood up to leave when the end credits started. everyone
just kind of sat there in a daze. i need to see it again to
ascertain whether my belief that it is an excellent study
about one mans relationship with death is correct.

Night at the Museum - 2/10 - Don't ask why I watched it

Casino Royale (2006) - 9/10 - When I subtracted sentiment
from the overall rating of the oldest bonds it occured that
this is the best Bond movie. But let's not be hasty and wait
until the second screening.

Tears of the Black Tiger - 5/10 - An extremely unnecessary
movie.

science of sleep - 4/5 : extra point for the gondry-factor.
so, in reality i have to admit it's more a 3/5.

it's interesting to see lynchian dreamlogic and gondrian
next to eachother. the first extremely dark, the second
extremely naieve. both incredibly inventive and imaginative.
i wonder what they'd make if they'd work together.
...universe would implode!

yeah that movie was garbage compared to its potential. the
only good bit in the whole thing was that tripped out scene

Smoking Aces- 8/10
Really fun movie to watch

Testament of Dr Mabuse- 7/10
A classic but it could have been slightly better...

A Scanner Darkly- 2/10
I couldnt even finish it, really lame movie.

Man, I really like that scene. It could do without the
burial or the "I guess I'll be drinking alone" love scene
out on the patio with the cheesy music and 'splendid' view.
But I dig the conversation at the table with everyone
freaking out and leaving one by one. I also really love the
opium smoking bed scene and the "Don't you see, there are
two of you, captain, one that loves, and one that kills".

Quite powerful stuff in some senses, but the gore gets
laughable when Jesus basically looks more messed up than a
zombie from a george romero film.

No no, it's just shit. Some interesting segments but overall
it's lukewarm and pointless, when it's not outright
embarrassing (the thing with the veiled girl, what was up
with that for fuck's sake).

Runaway Train 4/5

Great little thriller, and the ending with Jon Voight
standing on top of the train to a wicked rendition of the
second movement of Vivaldi's Gloria was really great. I
would do anything to find that version of Gloria online.

warrior king - 3/10 wheres the soul in these thai martial
arts flicks? theyre not a patch on the old chinese ones.
hot fuzz - 8/10 excellent.
inland empire - 5/10 interesting themes. far too long.
better than mulholland drive though.
popcorn - 7/10 brilliant cheese. the biggest scare is an
obviously fake skull on a table. class.
minority report - 6/10 most enjoyable speilberg film since
jurassic park despite tom cruise's face.
ghost rider - 1/10 dear god WHY?
spartan - 5/10 completely average.
the da vinci code - 3/10 havent read the book. i can imagine
if i had this film would make me very angry rather than just
completely bored.
bubba ho-tep - 7/10 a genuine surprise and a definite
recommendation.
renaissance - 4/10 animation was, at times, absolute shit.
story was below par sci-fi. fell asleep for 10 minutes in
the middle and missed something important.

the holiday - 2/10 i dont hate rom-coms. i hate america.
babel - 5/10 pulled down by the brad pitt/cate blandface bit
which i thought was unrealistic and a bit boring. the two
other stories were well done though. especially naughty deaf
japanese schoolgirl. that couldve been a film on it own in
my opinion.
severance - 5/10 + interesting general concept. - poor
'humour'. + some good gore. - danny dyer's smug twatface
grin = average.
it - 4/10 used to scare me shitless. now it just bores me to
death. the dvd was scratched 30 mins before the end so i
didnt watch it all. probably for the best if i remember
correctly.
signs - 2/10 fuck off m. night shyamalan.
the village - 2/10 see above.

its just this american schmaltz thats all over every fucking
rom-com i see. theyre designed to pull at the heart strings
of retards with their 'hilarious' mis-matched couples, cases
of mistaken identity etc. and the worst part is they work.
british ones are just as bad though.

Hard Candy - 8/10 an american film done right. absolutely
great. unsettling, thought provoking and a whole other load
of positive things. made my balls tingle and not in a good
way.
The Departed - 7/10 superb. totally forgot i was watching
leonardo dicaprio's massive cheeks so it must be good.
