I was mildly pissed off they didn't ask him about
Ghostbusters 3, as they did with Dan Akroyd and he confirmed
that Murray is the one who is stopping it being made (Ivan
Reitman, Harold Ramis, Akroyd and Bill hold the rights). I
know he won't do it because he's looking for fresh stuff and
wants to leave it alone and not ruin it, but I'd like to
hear him speak about it. Grr.

Hmm, most of that interview comes verbatim from the Rolling
Stone interview which Thad mailed me... :D!

But it adds to the thread, so great! :D

I didn't think of that. That's a damn shame. I'd love to
know what they've even considered for the film.

I toyed with the idea of buying that yesterday -- £6.99 --
but there appeared to be no extras, and I already have it on
VHS.... so I bought a film called Wendigo in the stead!

Good call. The lack of extras was a nuiscance but it was
cheap so I got it. I'd love a Murray Commentary.

Seems like William has won the daily poll at IMDB (cause
like, who gives a fuck about the bird). Not too much
competition though. On another note every fucking
publication and program that has reviewed Lost In
Translation has tipped him for an Oscar, kiss of fucking
death or what. In fact, I just remembered I was gonna
download it. Oh, poll results here

It would be pretty neat to have him win an Oscar, just to
hear his acceptance speech :)

for those that havent read the interview on lost in
translation official site yet...here's a comment on how it
is to work with bill (must be excellent i have no doubt
heh):

"I remember we were having trouble with an owner of one
location, and Bill ran over and was very funny, literally
scooped the guy up in his arms and swung him around and
said, "C'mon, c'mon! We just need another hour! C'mon!" He
was incredible, and he was a big part of why we were able to
make the movie in the way that we were able to make it. I
was awed being around him. On the personal side, he's
generous and kind. He's also one of the most thoughtful,
intelligent, articulate, and literate people that I've ever
met. He'd wrap up equipment with the crew. And for those of
us who were exhausted from shooting all night, he'd ask us
to come down to his room and enjoy some eggs and bacon and
champagne, and watch the World Series game."

the whole crew apperantly had great time while working on
this film:

"There was so much friendship born throughout the process,
we ended up actually having three wrap parties because
people didn't want to let go or say goodbye. On Bill's last
night of shooting, we had assembled the American crew and
the Japanese crew, and we had a party at a funky Chinese
restaurant. We had the best time. The vibe was so great, the
energy was so great, everybody wanted to be there to say
goodbye to Bill. It was Bill and all of us dancing until
4:30 in the morning. We all went home, showered and changed,
and about 40 minutes later Sofia and I and a small amount of
the crew got on a train to Kyoto to shoot the entire Kyoto
sequence."

ok, here we go:
-bill and scarlett were awesome
-music was brilliant
-japan looks cool
-very emotional scenes
-very funny scenes

debunk it now :)

bill and scarlett are awesome:

in a watered down, halfway-romatic, hardly funny (will
elaborate on this soon), plot? nope.

music was brilliant; don't remember it. and I was looking
for SOMETHING to ease the pain of it all. i spent 3.50$ to
watch this, and wanted my money back afterwards. Music
didnt' strike me at all.

japan looks cool:

you're one of those people who like watching those "funniest
commercial" montages on tv, aren't you?

very emotional scenes:

anything but. give me an exact scene.

very funny scenes:

ok, here we go. the ONLY funny scene in that was the gay
japanese tv show host. other than that, it's cheassy assed
"japan meets westerner" chiche's are horrible; and not that
elaborate or deep.

oooooh, look! he's taller than them! HAr Har! look! he can't
fit in the shower! why?! cause he's taller than them! jar
jar! the director for the wisky commercial is saying a bunch
of stuff, and the translator only translates a few words,
HAHA!

he plays (practically; old washed up actor, doing cheasy
endorsments [however, i don't know if murray actually DOES
endorsements]) himself in japan.

ALL THIS MOVIE IS, IS HIS WAY TO PAY FOR THE TRIP TO JAPAN!
god damn, this movie's horrible.

i'll reply properly when i get home.

can you tell me what do you expect out of the movie?
and obviously you're not too fond of murray, i mean those
scenes with him being tall, not fitting the shower...aren't
supposed to be funny imo, they're there not to make film too
depressive...

i love japanese films (eureka, dolls, railroad man,...)
above all, but i liked this one a lot as well.

It seems that you're trying to paint this as a "depressed
romantic comedy w/ comic relief." I didn't find it like that
at all. There was hardly any plot; whatsoever. And goddamn!
let off the cliche's!

i wasn't expecting anything. all i ever read about it was
the "beautiful shots of japan;" from this board. heh, INFACT
i wasn't even expecting bill murray! i thought this was a
"barraka-esque" doccumentary of japan (which would have
blown my socks off, btw!!!). When i was at the theater; and
saw bill murray on the poster, i was like...hmmmm, does he
host this? I had NO expectations, whatsoever.

i dig bill murray; but i dont' hero-worship him. "What about
bob's" one of my fav's. This movie, HAS to be the worst.
it's crap.

again, i'll try and explain a little better why i thought it
was good when i get back home...

i like movies with great picture and music and both things
were beautiful in this one.
it is a depressing romantic film but without many cliches,
it was very real, i got that exact feeling - being with
someone you really like and you can talk to about anything,
and it doesnt have to be romantic at all - as this wasnt
neither. they had great time together and that what it was
all about and it seemed very real to me.
i can't think properly now cos im in a hurry but i'll try
and explain it better when i get home :)
