That's the whole point--not believing in God.
It's like how Buddhists don't believe in Jesus.

dissect the word "atheist" itself:

a-: away from
-the-: God
-ist: person

blah, I think you guys are missing the point of this... I
know atheist don't believe in God, but I want to know the
reasons why the atheists on this board don't believe... why
not?

As I said before: Religion leads to war in one way or
another. I'd rather see all those talibans alive without a
religion than walking arround and burst into flames without
a warning taking many people with them. -It's like fuckin
Lemmings or something!!

religious

and still be against religion... personally I think God, and
religion are two different things...

I used to be really lonely.
I believe in God now that I know Lindsey. I pray for things
and find things turn out shockingly well. :)
I got Lindsey to go out with me and we've been going out for
almsot a year.
I saw Radiohead and they did Like Spinning Plates (I prayed
for that song) for the first time at the show I went to!
And Lindsey and I got front row tickets at the Tori concert
:D

My families catholic and i was raised and a confirmed
catholic. Although in reality i don't really believe in god.
I like to beleive in what i like. Big fan of philosophy
class, questio everything, there are no rules, only
theories. Also when I went to the church last 3 yrs ago, it
seemed really odd and cultish which turned me off totally.
So I guess im Athiest...

no offense to any catholic here, but I really dislike the
catholic church... I don't see any good coming from it...
just my opinion, and I have no ill will towards any catholic
people, just the church, the pope, and all that...

its a philosophical question really, some people look for an
answer to things like creation and all and think "something"
had to have made this or something etc. but not everyone
thinks that or they think its an absurd belief or that all
the negative things in this world prove their no god etc it
just depends on a persons ideals and beliefs.. if u read up
on it theres like endless amount of stuff for and against
the existence of God, its just up to the person

why i'm an atheist:

i feel that establishing a god is depicting ourselves
seeking a government headed by a faceless leader, in a way.
it is like we are all children of a faceless parent. a god
lacks definition, in my case. some take radical measures to
prove a god's existence, as we have observed through the
media about militant individuals' behaviors. gods are often
used to justify such behaviors.

again, i'm an atheist because i don't know the definition of
God. if you are a theist, than i'm not trying to
withhold your beliefs. i'm just describing my scope.

nor do i feel its neccessary to be religious in order to
explore spirtuality, or vice versa

b0nk--yes, some do. :)

Im not an atheist, but I do know that a lot of people who
dont beleive in god, or a goddess, or any higher being
simply dont. It doesnt feel right for them, and faith is
based on feeling.

There is no right or wrong religion, but lets not get into
that. :) Atheists dont beelive in a higher power; that is
just what they have come to beelive--whether it is through
life experiences or just a natural feeling.

Also, some ahteists beleive that man is his own god. Man
decides of himself what is right and what is wrong, not a
higher being. :)

atheists don't believe in god for exactly the same resoning
that theists believe in god. i hope that answers your
question. if it doesn't then stop asking and start to
understand why YOU believe in god, then you have the answer
:)

well, if you put it that way... than I'm against gods.
Hmm... sounds pretty silly doesn't it? Exspecially when I'm
asigned into an ancient cult. I dont know the english name
for it but a few of the gods are: Óðin (Odin), Týr (Tyr)
and Þór (Thor) (none of the members actually believe in
any of those gods. They're just trying to keep old habits
from being forgotten). Most of the members are ameteur
philosophists. Many interesting conversations going on. :)

I have my personal reasons for not believing in god.

This isnt christian chat last time I checked so you dont get
bonus points here for converting people, please dont force
your beliefs on others funk. Is it really that hard for you
to think of reasons people dont believe in god on your own?
Because it shouldnt be that hard.

hes asking
not telling

'personally I think God, and
religion are two different things...'

sounds like i even agree with the funkmaster on this, as i
put it in my own words

'nor do i feel its neccessary to be religious in order to
explore spirtuality, or vice versa'

ummm, ok then... I'm not trying to convert anyone... fucking
believe what you want... this was meant as just an innocent
thread for a discussion, nothing more... again, I don't
fucking care what anyone here believes...

I was just curious... no reason to get defensive... if you
ask me why I believe in God, I'll tell you... I wouldn't
take it as you trying to convert me to atheism... goodness,
get a life!

I don't think he's trying to turn any of us.
And even if he is, he most likely couldn't. I mean, this is
but a message board but our believes and disbelieves are our
deepest fealings that most of us have carried with us for
most of our lives.
-I seriously doubt that anyone will be able to "change" us
through a messageboad, right? :)

Many people considder religion so much taboo. I don't
understand why. it's among the few things that are supposed
to make us comfortable and keep us togeather... But then
again, so is sex. :/
-Why do you believe in god? (in a non-offensive tone) :)

in real life, i find myself on a fence of sorts. the fence
isnt in my point of view, its situational.

what i mean is, i have deeply religious friends, but they
dont often bring their faith up with me because im not the
same way inclined.

however i do hold spirituality as being a very important
thing, and that puts me apart from the pessimists that i
meet.

"Why do you believe in god? (in a non-offensive tone)"

well, I just believe that there has to be some higher
power... I also think that it makes a lot more sense to
believe in a God, then to believe in some of the scientific
theories that are out there... I also just have faith... I
feel that I have experience God numerous times, and so I
believe that God exists on a personal level!

Um... your calling aeitheist dumb because they dont belive
in something that has no proof of existance, and which
doesnt even have a the slightest bit of fact supporting its
existance? am i right so far? and then, that also means that
they are stupid for not spending their sunday mornings
praying to the sky, right? Perhaps you could clear this up

to your insight.
