do you guys know any good xmas music to be played at a
party
something jazzy
something cool....not typical traditional xmas music?

bjork's vespertine has a christmasy feel to me too.. even
though it has nothing to do with christmas

its probably just because i bought it last december and
listened to it a lot around christmas

yes, vespertine is very wintery...i was listening to it
during the first snowfall of the year a couple days ago.

i'm sure it would work well at a xmas party.

Burl Ives *IS* Christmas. If it ain't Burl Ives it's
CRAAAAAAAP.

Have a holly jolly Christmas
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow
So have a cup of cheer!

Somewhat less important but also cool is the version of
Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. Gives me
chills.

As for jazzy and cool, I dunno. Give everyone dark glasses
and syringes.

Manheim Steamroller's Christmas album,s are priceless.. they
are just so corny and fun. We listen to them every year
while decorating the tree.
Erasure and Book of Love have also done Christmas carol
versions.. pretty icky but hey, you asked for it!

First time I saw them was on a PBS special. They were doing
this bluescreen thing where they were superimposed over
random winter scenes. Ha! Corny is right. I guess it would
be fun music for tree decorating.

i have a techno version of jingle bells somewhere. i can't
remember who did it but its from around 1992 and sounds
really harsh (think cubic 22 or similar). i'll mp3 it from a
tape when i remember.

Electro, my mom once bought this CD of "Christmas" (?!)
music that sounded like something an undertaker would play
on Christmas eve as he abandoned all hope for happiness and
decided to embalm himself.

I'm serious, it was the most depressing, malevolent excuse
for Christmas tunes I've ever heard. It was basically
traditional Christmas melodies played slowly and
deliberately on cold-sounding synths with a sociopathically
pure lack of affect. Maybe there were muflled shrieks in the
background, maybe that was just me.

If you'd like I can try to get the title...

hey! how flattering! :) I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed
it. Just day before yesterday I finished a little 3'' CD
mini-album called 'happymeal IDM' that had been in the works
for some time. that's what it was from. I can send you a
copy for free if you want, email me. otherwise, go here:

chlostragora was supposed to be a hybrid of claustrophobia
and agoraphobia but it wasn;t until long after it occured to
me it was misspelled. oh well, life goes on. :) thank
again!

Whine & Missingtoe,
Turkey,
Stuffing.

All guaranteed to make even the most cheery person feel
christmas is bleak :)

but 'christmas is now drawing near' by coil is really nice.
