why does life have this funny(!) habit of like, seeming to
go okay for a while, and then just revealing stuff you wish
you'd never found out?

sorry to get a little "teen-angsty" here, but i just had to
ask

??

life seems to be constant cycles of highs and lows _ you can
always say it'll go better when it's going bad, but it's
only as true as saying it'll go worse when it's going well.

a bit like a rollercoaster, but much less exciting.
imho.

I had recently broken up from a long relationship and I
hadn't gotten over the girl yet. I met her amongst some
friends a couple of weeks later and she was telling detailed
storys of how good the 6 rebounds were and totally ignoring
my presence. I wish i could un-heard those things, I can
barely imagine a greater pain than that.

Break up with her! That way you will be in control ;-) Why
should she have the upper hand? Once in your life you should
have the upper hand. You have no hand. No hand at all. She
has the hand. You have no hand. A man without hand is not a
man!

Just kidding ofcourse, as you also still seem to be able to
laugh about the situation... but it's bad though :-( I hate
it when people lie. And especially your loved one! You
should be able to trust her no matter what :-/

I honestly hope your suspicions will turn out to be wrong!

Well... sometimes when you are suspecting someone of
something, you can get a little paranoid. And you start to
interpret every little innocent detail as a sign that proves
she's cheating on you. Everytime you think about it you
convince yourself a little more that she is cheating
on you... until you have no more doubt and are sure she is.

But you might still be wrong... i know nothing of
your situation, so i can't really judge... i'm just saying
don't jump to any conclusions unless you're absolutely
sure.

And then i think you have to ask yourself if you are able to
forgive her and trust her again if you were somehow to find
out she really is cheating on you :-/

It's tough... i can only wish you good luck and lots of
wisdom.

Yes, I know how it can be, I used to get really paranoid
about it, but in the end decided all I could do was trust.
Shame that it wasn't reciprocated really, my ex claims one
of the reasons she dumped me was because she couldn't force
herself to believe I wasn't cheating on her (I wasn't) even
though she knew deep down I wouldn't...

It's a pain really, unless you're with her 24hrs a day or
trust her implicitly, you'll never no for sure.

yes... you have to be able to trust your partner, otherwise
no relationship has any chance of ever lasting. But it can
be really hard i guess. There is no way of knowing 100% for
sure, so you've got to believe and trust in your partner.

On the other hand... in a good relationship i think this is
a thing of beauty :-) Two people who love each other so
much, they can trust and rely on each other completely! That
is an awesome feeling... but it takes time to get that far.

My ex allways jokingly threatened me she wanted to score
another guy.
That joke is funny a few times, but when I was fed up with
that, I gave her 20 euro's or something and told her to go
out, get drunk and score a guy. I drove off then.
If you're bluffin, be prepared to call your bluff *grinz*

went too far in that sometimes.
She got kinda upset by that.
Later on things just didnt work out.
So I'm single again, and allthough I'd love to have a girl,
and I put up a shitload of desperate topics, I'm quite happy
right now.

I know, even if a partner is just joking, it still hurts. It
sows seeds of doubt. Still, in the spirit of one-upsmanship,
you can say, "Look I'm sorry, I've been seeing your mother."

When they inevitably break down into tears you can say,
"Don't worry, I was just winding you up."

Actually, maybe that'd be too cruel :P
