Gameboy Advance = The Best?

For years now I've wanted people to make a load of
SNES/Megadrive type games, but due to the "3d revolution" no
one has. The GBA is such a great machine as it has graphical
capabilities in excess of a PSX for 2d graphics and is home
to so many great games-

Advance Wars,
Castlevania,
Wario 4,
Manic Miner,
Metal Slug,
Streetfighter Turbo X Revival,
Mario Kart,
Mario World,
Yoshi's Island,
F-Zero

To name just a few. I thoroughly recommend them to people,
not just as something to play due to its portability, but at
home in place of one of the next gen consoles (that includes
the Dreamcast!) for when you want an new "old school"
challenge.

Yeah, I love GBA... I play GBA roms more than PS2 or
Gamecube.

Pronco... hook me up with that Metroid! How'd you get it?!?!

And does anyone have the Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
rom? Circle of the Moon is the only video game (other than
MGS2) that I've taken the time to beat in the last couple
years. I'm hoping Metroid Prime and Fusion will hook me...
and Zelda... oooh, I'm so busy, no time for games. :_-(

hey ophecks, i have circle of moon and harmony. im still
stuck in circle of moon damnit! so i have played hardly any
harmony. ive hardly played mario lately either or stafox,
animal crossing or eternal darkness for that matter. this
weekend im gonna get farther in all of them hopefully. i
already reserved metroid prime\fusion and I hope to get
resident evil 0 and medal of honor eventually.

I'm downloading Harmony off of Soulseek right now... I'm
giddy like a schoolgirl. *teehee

Where are you in Circle of the Moon? How, in this day and
age, could you get stuck in a video game with GAMEFAQS
around? :-) Ahh, cheating...

I'm going to force myself to beat Starfox... I've been at
44% for two fucking weeks... I need to beat it before
starting on Metroid.

its one of those things where I know what to do but I cant
actually pull it off. im stuck on a boss, the that sends
the flying skulls out and shoots the blue things at you,
know who im talking about?

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2002-10-29 20:32 [#00420872]

I think it's this guy? I copied and pasted this from
Gamefaqs.

4. Adremelech (level 20+)
*************
A. By the time you get to this boss, have the Jupiter +
Golem
combination (you get 4x invinciblitiy when your hit),
otherwise my guide
to this guy won't do you much good. What you do is turn that
on, and
that way when you get hit with the flying skulls or the
fireballs, your
invincible through the rest of the group, then, after you
get hit, whip
crucifixes at his head, and whip him. Do this as much as you
can until
he's dead. Keep in mind that if your life is getting low,
use potions or
meats before you die!

B. I thought this guy was pretty tough in Magician Mode.
What I did, is
turned on the Uranus + Thunderbird combo. Then, I would whip
crucifixes
at him until he started one of his attacks, and then did the
thunderbird
summon. If you gettin low on life, turn on the Uranus +
White Unicorn
combination to gain life. Keep on throwing crucifixes and
doing the
thunderbird summon until he's dead.

C. Ok, for this one, you'll just need to take alot of
damage. Make sure
you have the crucifix, and a nice supply of hearts. Enter
the battle,
and whip him and throw crucifixes. Try to jump the skulls,
and dodge the
fire he shools at you. Also, make sure that you destroy the
little
bubbles that pop up from the ground. Don't worry too much
about getting
hit unless your life is really, REALLY low.

Hoooly shit, it actually works... I was skeptical... thanks
man! But the sound isn't working right on my emulator, I
just get static... is it working right for you, or is this a
natural downfall of getting games illegally before they're
released? :-) ''NO SOUND FOR YOU, FILTHY PIRATE!!!''

I was actually quite disapointed in gameboy advance. I
stopped buying games for it. sonic wasn't even fun. finding
the emeralds was a painful chore and the emerald levels
themselves suffered from a flawed 3d perspective that made
you miss the rings. advance wars was ok but there are better
games. golden sun sucked. I waas more impressed with the the
oracle of ages or whatever it's called (new zelda for
gameboy color) than any of these games.

Well.. I is running VisualBoyAdvance 1.1,

And I go OPTIONS-EMULATOR, then "Select Bios File..."

best of luck..

The sound effects sound alright, but the music is a mass of
noise, really messed up... but I'll have to make do... the
game is frickin' awesome so far, I've been waiting almost 9
years for this.

Really? Hmmmm..... well, do you have "Use Bios File" ticked
in the OPTIONS-EMULATOR menu/bit?

Cause it's working fine on my end! :)

My internets stopped working, I'm on a laptop on dialup
here! :-/ 1st time in months.. I forgot how slow it was.

Duke Nukem Advance is very impressive for a handheld. F-Zero
is a true classic and Kuru Kuru Kururin represents great
value for money at £8 :)

Pogo: Why on earth did you sell your GBA? Best console for
2d/retro stuff at the moment :)

I still can't find Metroid Fusion anywhere online... That
thing with the bios file, does anyone know if it affects the
cart when you copy it to a real gba?

the bios is just the title screen that says "gamboy"
"nintendo(R)" when you turn on your gba with or without a
cart inserted.

as far as i know the bios file is just a boot check.. the
rom checks to see if it is present before it boots..

the bios does not need to be copied to a cart, coz the bios
is inside your gba..

newer ones (i.e the ones with higher numbers) are fine.
